Repeat Chat Subjects

Other

I have noticed in the last few weeks there have been so many repeated chat topics on here. I think this is one of the problems of the point system because so many don't bother to read other threads to see what has already been discussed. In fact sometimes within a thread something is repeated which means the chat is not being read.

Sometimes a topic has been pushed back to previous page before it has a chance to be read! I guess there is no answer to this but it is frustrating.

I love a good natter but it seems some start a thread and never bother to look at it again.😢

Perhaps even worse (obviously to gain points) one poster was copying and pasting opening posts from other websites. A few of us noticed it.

I didn't notice myself, I only use this site, but I guess it just goes to support what I felt.

I didn't notice this either, but anyway why does it bother you so much. The internet is full of copy and paste content anyway.

deepcore It bothers me because I like this site and would hate it to be closed down if someone who owns the copyright on items transferred were to get it shut down. You obviously are not aware of the new copyright restrictions that are imminent under Article 13.

davidstockport LOL mate you are having a laugh? Are you saying latestdeals would get shut down just for copying words? If you go on Facebook or Twitter everyone copies each other's posts anyway, does that fall under Article 13? hahaha you make it sound like it's a BIG CRIME akin to smuggling contraband LOL!

deepcore They could UNDER the imminent Article 13 restrictions be sued by the copyright holder if they don't take sufficient care to prevent it - at the moment removal of copyright material posted (by a take down notice) is the norm.

davidstockport I don't think an average poster is going to bother to sue anyone for copying their words mate. People copy my Twitter/Facebook posts or re-share/re-tweet them all the time and I don't mind.

Don't visit the chat section if it frustrates you that much. Don't see why you made a topic to complain about this since in reality you can't expect every single person to browse all 134 chat pages to see if the same or similar subject matter has been posted. That's ridiculous.

Furthermore, this website is 100% free to use and you should be grateful the founders even give us amazon vouchers for participating. Other websites don't give anything back in return at all!

How about they remove the points for amazon vouchers system altogether? Would you prefer that? I bet you wouldn't participate or spend time on here as much either.

Deepcore. There is no need to be rude. I was pointing out something politely and without rancour. One subject was posted twice within 4 threads of each other and there have been repeats of best comp win, turkey, best shop for groceries etc etc. You have only to put a search on before posting so do not need to search through 134 pages. And my argument still stands, only a few people are genuinely chatting with each other rather than just posting random topics. Why should I not visit the chat section for some human connection (I live alone) because others are only accumulating points. I comment far more than 5 times a day so therefore not for the points alone but sometimes it is the only human contact i have, especially at weekends.

deepcore there you go again twisting words to suit an unpleasant reply. I enjoy conversations, written or spoken. You appear to only want to be rude and upset others which is very sad and my heart goes out to you as you cannot help it. Your cynicism about why folk use this site is really sad.

According to davidstockport similar chat topics are enough to get latestdeals shut down due to Article 13 copyright laws LOL. Oh deary me.

deepcore I didn't say that - if the chat topic is copied (word for word) from ANOTHER site - it is a copyright infringement which very soon the site it is posted to will be held responsible for.

davidstockport Only if the original content poster decides to press charges and can prove it's their original content... For a few words, I don't think so mate unless it was an award winning novel then yeah... LOL Twitter/Facebook is full of copy and paste anyhow. Stop making it sound like a BIG CRIME LOL.

deepcore The copyright holders will start to enforce their copyright - when they find they can get thousands by doing so, YouTube are already taking very strong action against anyone posting copyrighted material without permission from the owner. The plaintiff doesn't have to prove it is their original material - just that they were first publishers will usually be enough.

davidstockport So are you telling us if someone re-tweets my Twitter post (280 words max) or re-shares my Facebook post I can sue someone for £10,000 as long as I can prove I am the original publisher? Sounds ridiculous mate.

It would not bother me personally if the Amazon vouchers were stopped - even less if it stopped a few who post deals just to get vouchers and often post deals that are higher than the actual recommended prices, but have been advertised by the vendor at "reduced from a much higher price" just to make it appear a better deal.

I do suspect there are a few on this site who have multiple accounts - just for the vouchers. An IP check might be suggested to the site owners.

Of course it wouldn't bother you since you only posted 1 deal in 1 year and the rest just comments.

deepcore Of course it wouldn't bother me - WHERE did I imply that?

Nice to see you don't dispute there might be a few with multiple accounts - and realise how they might avoid detection. (or attempt to) my opinion is they're very sad individuals.

The number of deals I've posted is nothing to do with you... at least my deal was GENUINE despite your pathetic attempt to ridicule it - making yourself look quite foolish by doing so.

It isn't the people who post deals who make anything for this site but those who purchase items when there is an affiliate link involved.

davidstockport Mate it's the 21st century, everyone knows about VPNs. Some people use it to watch USA shows on netflix, nothing sad about that and I've seen several deals about it on HUKD.

Even the mirror UK has an article on how to use a VPN: https://www.mirror.co.uk/tech/how-you-can-watch-american-11872345

deepcore i came off of Facebook because of the amount of unpleasant comments, swearing, rudeness etc. I was so relieved to find a nice site where people were nice to each other but sadly there is always one. I am not going to be driven off here by a rude person , so with that in mind I wish you a pleasant evening Jake.

PS my comments are nothing like the other person's, he is far cleverer than me, I write from the heart, he writes with his brain, but your comments are exactly the same as another poster.

deepcore i don't recall ranting about anything you seem to have the monopoly on that. I see my family and friends regularly thank you but choose to while away winter evenings on a chat site, as you seem to be doing, maybe you are a lovely guy off of here but need to pick on an elderly lady to make you feel better about yourself. I have never yet posted a thread that hasn't received support except from you who, for some reason, have chosen to bully me online. There have been far more controversial and unpleasant posts than mine but you don't hassle them. Do you know me or something? It is beginning to sound personal and threatening.

https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/guidelines

"Things we say no to

We may have to remove your deal if we feel it doesn't fit in with the values of the community. Here are some of the things that'll get you in the bad books:

  • Conversations unrelated to deals, saving money, freebies, vouchers, competitions and the topics for which Latest Deals primarily serves."

If you have an issue with the website you should contact the site owners instead of spamming the chat section with your rant. It doesn't promote a friendly environment at all.
