Reuse Butter and Other Food Containers Hack
Money Saving
Pretty obvious but I never thought of it until I saw it on Facebook! Reuse your empty plastic butter containers to store other foods. Like left overs and fruit. So simple! And the same with jam and source jars. I use those for storing fruit and for making mixed yoghurts with oats nuts and fruits.
I do this with takeaway containers which are sturdier, can't bear to just ditch them I even wash out the foil containers and use for individual meals like lasagne, curry, casserole etc.
Yeah my family and I have been reusing plastic takeaway boxes to store foods and cause they are microwaveable! Been doing this for more than 10 years now! Yes it’s a hassle to wash them when they get oily best use a paper towel first then use hot water with washing up liquid
We even reuse the plastic bags from bread too
And have been using plastic bags as bin bags too! Saves us a lot of money from having to buy them!
Hope these tips will be useful to all!
I’ve been using the plastic containers to start seeds growing. Especially useful if only a pinch of seeds and not the full packet.
I have a caravan so the winter months it shut up we put cat litter in them to take moisture outta caravan save them every year for this works a treat
I have been using empty containers for years for all sorts of things. It’s very rare a throw a box, jar or container away. They were also handy for children’s school projects as well.
Yeah always done this, as others said, takeaway containers are probably the best to re use.
I think since the living crisis it’s really made me realise how much we can reuse rather that throw away.
I always reuse Bread bags,in Portugal I used them to keep Cheese & Cooked Ham fresh, hardly worth buying Clingfilm when you're on holiday!
I use bread bags or veg bags for putting peelings in or other food waste rather than throw it in the bin to go mouldy & smelly!
I reuse the plastic
bags from from boxes of Cereals as they are STRONG & so handy for carrying 4 pints of milk or Fish/Meat from the supermarket without leakage..
Last year in Northern Ireland while visiting my brother in law I noticed he was reusing the Cereal bags too,he said they are really strong & ideal for his uses..
I reuse plastic and takeaway containers to store many cooked food. I reuse large glass jars for pulses and smaller jars to preserve chopped chilies, garlic and ginger.
Now I only have one small bag in my bin and my recycling bin is used much more.
Sugarbabe ...Our daughter & I use the small glass jars to make Salad Dressing, also Face Masks..
Nadiaparveen oh that’s clever didn’t think of that one. To think what we used to throw away
We love chinese, i save the chinese tubs and use them for everything. In my partners shed we have them to seperate and store nails, screws, staples, bits of sandpaper, alan keys etc.

People should reuse the stuff they have if possible than throw it away. For example, water bottles have multiple uses.
Yes I reuse what I can. I take stuff to school as we can use it to either store or for junk modelljng
