River Giving off a Stench at the Best Kept Village

In the News

The water companies are at it again, this time Thames Water

They have been pumping raw sewerage into the River Misbourne for more than six months and kicking up a stink

The beautiful village of Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire was voted the best kept village for six years running

But they have had to withdraw from the competition this year because of the terrible smell coming from the river caused by the water companies discharges

It has already closed the children’s playground, river walk and duck pond because of the smell

How they continually get away with it is beyond me , even fines don't deter them, they make so much profit it is just a drop in the ocean, or river in this case

I wonder how many people in power have shares in the water companies, that might answer the question !!

There’s absolutely no way you’ll get me swim in any rivers or sea in this country. I once worked for environment agency a long time ago now but even then all they could do was ‘monitor and measure’. Couldn’t stop them doing it.

It's absolutely disgusting. We are going back in time not forward!. I totally agree with you nothing seems to stop them. I live in a village with the Thames going through it but stay away from it at the moment. Whoever end's up in government should get a real good grip of this.

This has been an ever increasing problem I'm sorry to say. The greedy shareholders don't give a darn if our water is poluted and the politicians are too busy taking back handers etc to do anything either. Meanwhile the water companies that are supposed to serve those who pay them are doing the bare minimal to keep the public quiet and continue to pollute our drinking, swimming and nature waters.

While the tories have been in power there's been no real reason for water companies to care cos the tories aren't into in the future but their own pockets
