Should School Kids Get Free Lunches?

Ask a Question

Should all schoolchildren get free lunches? 🍴

In London, every primary school child receives one, and the mayor says it’s brought huge benefits for parents and improved behaviour in the classroom. Should this be rolled out nationwide? 🤔

In Scotland pupils already get free school lunches from P1 to P5. After that it is only for low income families. I think it is a great thing but at the same time I wouldn't begrudge having to pay for it either as I know I can afford to do it. It is an absolute necessity for some families though.

Yes l agree that all school children should recieve a free lunch,it will benefit the child that they have eaten a healthy meal during school time and not all children go home to a warm meal,so there are many benefits of this.

Yes they should, so Scotland gets theirs for free and London but everywhere else has to pay, ridiculous

It’s a nice idea but it would cost a hell of a lot to feed kids. Like a lot of these things we can’t have it all

Yes, all children should get free school meals.A balanced diet with meat, vegetables and fruit is good training for the future.I will never forget butterscotch pudding and custard served at school dinners!

All children should get a free school meal or they should remove it completely.

I never did.

I only got 1 day a week and that had to be paid for even when I never got any pocket money.

Had to work on weekends and school holidays to get my school dinners.

Probably wrong timing for me.

Kids are lucky nowadays.

Wish it was easier back then as it is now.

Only children in need. Far too expensive to feed every child.

I am pretty sure you've asked this question a couple of times before. But no I don't. If you want children then you pay for them.

Absolutely especially primary school years, I can agree to an extent at stopping at at high school but even then I’d be against it. they should all get it all throughout school years

No one knows what some children go home to, a hot meal would massively help a huge number of children. They are tomorrow's adults.

Yes if they are given real food not Turkey dinosaurs etc. It stand to reason that if all school children are fed properly at lunchtime then afternoon lessons are better comprehended

No not all school children , as in London there are many well off people that can well afford to pay for their children's lunches. Flip side of that coin there are also many families that can't afford to pay and yes help those by all means.

Given the state of some of the kids lunch boxes yes. I'm not talking of those who have issues with food or allergies but those who's parents just feed their kids pure rubbish. We get 3 year olds that are given 2 bags of crisps. Other older kids are Given sharing bags or 3 bags of crisps. As well as dunkers or that type of thing it's awful to see
