Now Scientists Have Developed an Artificial Womb for sharks
In the News
We are hearing of all sorts of new advances in science every day
Now there is another , this time it is an artificial womb
Scientists have create an artificial womb that can grow baby sharks for up to 355 days
It will not be long before they develop a human one , as suggested in the article
Do you think this is ethical ?

Oh my word. When are they going to leave nature alone? Are sharks on the endangered species act? I don't think so. So what are they thinking? Let's be the first to experiment on creating more sharks to make shark fin soup from. It's like an oriental version of Dolly the Sheep. Make more to eat more.
EmmaWright762 I never thought of it that way E, the last thing we need are more dangerous sharks , unless as you say we want more soup
SilverSurfer I wonder what happened to that woolly mammoth scientists were going to clone a few years ago S ?
I am afraid I don't, but then that's just opinionated, out of touch, un-pc me. Where does it all end. It seems scientists just seem to defy nature rather than work with her to find cures for things like cancer, diabetes, Parkinson's etc.
Who pays for this stuff. Artificial wombs for sharks doesn't sound that applicable for benefiting humans. I watched a news report earlier where people were building huge nests at the top of poles at great expense so that a rare bird that used to live in the West Country would come back to the region and one of them was occupied by a different species of bird that liked the look of the nest. It all looked really expensive and you just wonder how the bills for this approved. There were multiple people building these nests and quite a lot of man hours. It just annoys me that money can be found for stuff like this when the government is still borrowing like crazy.
BonzoBanana It is scientists in Japan B, they have a vested interest in fish , as most of it ends up on their plates
telmel Japanese are amazing engineers and scientists but you wonder if there isn't better ways of spending their money. Also like the UK they have huge debts however Japan is asset rich unlike the UK.
BonzoBanana I suppose they think they are spending their research money well, if they can keep the baby sharks alive and grow them in the artificial womb until they are mature enough to be eaten then they must consider the research a success
They do say they are hoping to use this research to manufacture an artificial womb for premature babies , but i don't think they will be in danger of being eaten though
Why o why would you want to grow a shark, they definitely gone to far this time. Why and how do you always come across these strange things, very bizarre
This is amazing, i think it is ethical depending upon the uses. I imagine artificial wombs would be used for people who are infertile(can’t think of another use?) so don’t see why anyone would be against that.
