Have You Seen Social Media 'Rate My Plate' Posts?
Ask a Question
They are mostly clickbait posts showing terrible burnt offerings of their fails using air fryers etc. Sometimes its a dinner or breakfast or recipe and often quite good.
Well this was a dinner (paid for) put in front of me yesterday and I wonder if you feel the same as me about it?
What no big beautiful Yorkshire pudding. The pub I take someone to always has one. Looks a little bare
Imnotcheap to elaborate, the potatoes were not soft or crispy, they verged on being hard. I didn't eat the 'pig' as it looked barely cooked to me. Others also had Brussels but they must have forgot to add mine.
If more people comment I will add more info.
Lynibis the pig looked suspicious on the photo. I wouldn't want to go there. Bet it wasn't cheap either
Imnotcheap and Leannexxx ok this was a place that does regular dinner parties for over 65s clubs around the area. There were about 200 patrons. We had a sliver of very dry Xmas pud with a drop of custard on a saucer sized plate and I hardly are anything. It cost £20 and all I could think was a Toby carvery is half the price, twice as much and tastes better even though it's not top class eatery. It annoys me that they can serve such a low quality meal to pensioners who won't complain.
Lynibis next time go toby carvery. £20 is far too much for what you got. Hope you at least got a cracker. The joke might have been your dinner
Depending on the price for that then that’s going straight back. id be expecting to pay no more than about £4 for that I won’t lie
KateGriff169 it made me laugh when the hostess person got us all to applaud the chef and that he was so good not increasing the price with the cost of living. 200 people = £4,000 and even allowing for staff wages there was still profit in it, especially as people bought drinks at the bar.
Not a large enough meal.
Very tired looking vegetables - did they give themselves up?
More stuffing than underdone meat.
The gravy looks as if it was just water with a little colouring
Did you eat it????
tumblespots I left most, just ate a bit of meat, 2 of the spuds and half the stuffing and veg! Potatoes were undercooked and it tasted like a cardboard meal from catering packs heated up. What nearly choked me was that they asked for a round of applause for the chef. I would have been embarrassed to serve that free to guests at my home!
Lynibis You were very brave to taste it and I've never heard of a round of applause for the chef, and I wouldn't have done it given the meal! I think I would have asked where he had done his training! He clearly wasn't a chef! I wouldn't serve anything like that to my enemies... (if I had any)
I've seen those posts before, some look amazing and others I think I would rather go hungry. I would expect more than one pig in a blanket, at least 2 or 3, I would want less gravy, there should be 2 pieces of meat minimum and possibly a Yorkshire. My Christmas dinner at my work (school canteen) looks better than that.
I wouldn't have paid for that, it looks horrible, is that supposed to be a pig in blanket? It looks that raw I'm surprised it isn't running around the plate
Lynibis I wouldn't have either, £20 wow , you could have gone out and had a carvery for a lot less
The gravy looks a little watery to me and it’s not a massive portion really. It’s not too bad depending on price in my opinion
Lynibis I agree with you 100%. I have worked as a catering assistant years ago with some so-called chefs who left the cooking and presentation of the various meals to the catering assistant staff. Some of the catering assistants had no previous catering experience and only "followed orders" or some of the trained staff had unbelievable poor chef skills and don't get me started on poor hygiene in the kitchen.
MelissaLee1 I didn't fancy food poisoning so didn't eat that, and only half the rest. Best part was the cranberry sauce!
