Where Were You on September 11 during the WTC Attack?
Ask a Question
Some people probably can't remember, but I recall I was around 11 watching cartoons and then my parents switched to the live coverage of the WTC tragedy.
September 11 is forever a sad day because of this attack.
Anyway, I know Sept. 11 was a few days ago, but just curious if folks remember it.
I was at work in my 20s and a department had a tv because of work related things but the news flash came on and I just remember how shocked everyone was that it had happened. I definitely remember it and watched a lot of the coverage when I got home. I don’t think about it too much these days as it was just too horrible.
I was at work when the first plane hit. One of the guts at work came over told us and we thought it was a wind up and told him to stop being stupid as its not like you can see the wtc. I went for a late lunch left him bickering with a colleague. I lived in walking distance of work went home to watch diagnosis murder and put bbc 1 on and in that time the 2nd plane hit and we knew it was planned. Was like omg my colleague was right
When I went back to work it was sereal as we were meant to be working. Only one person managed to keep working cos she was a nasty piece of work. The rest were doing bits but mainly talking quietly and updating each other and popping downstairs to the tv and coming back up to update. One of the directors was in new York and on his way to our new York office and you guessed it at the wtc when it happened. For hours we couldn't get hold of him due to phone lines working. He was fine hadn't left his hotel when the first plane hit and just leaving when the 2nd hit it was horrible.
I'd worked a nightshift and just got up after sleeping to about 1pm and every channel I think was focusing on this news story and it was the most amazing (in a terrible way) news story I'd ever seen. The horrific loss of life and devastation.
I remember it pretty well, I was building a shed in the garden, when my wife said you'd better have a look at this on the news
I was nine years old at the time and just came home from school. A neighbour came over to our house and informed my mother of the incident. Quite shocking to say the least.
I was at home alone with my 1st son, he was almost 18 months old at the time. I'd put him down for his nap & was having a bite to eat. I'll never forget watching the second plane hit live & the realisation then that it was deliberate. I remember us just sitting watching the news all night & feeling sad & horrified.
I was 11. I had recently started my first year at High School. I came home, turned the TV on to watch my usual after school show and instead it was the news of the attack.
I was at work the whole sales floor everything came to a halt as everyone watching footage. I went to for cigarette and on way out watching tv with security. I will never forget especially as I’ve been up the twin towers with work on a trip was amazing.
I was working in finance at the time and several TVs were on in the office. I remember watching it unfold. So sad.
It was a Tuesday so after watching it at home while I was getting ready I went & collected mum's pension
Driving home from work and the radio was reporting what was happening. It was around 4.30 and we had not heard a thing regarding it. Once I got home I sat in front of the tv and couldn’t believe what I was witnessing, tbh I couldn’t move myself from the tv as I had visited the USA twice New York, Boston and Washington DC were some of the places I visited. My friends over there are Americans I tried ringing them as one of them worked at the Pentagon as I found out later the US had shut down all communications and no one could ring the country. Fortunately my friend was okay but did experience the incident in Pentagon.
Went back to visit Washington DC, New York and Boston 7 years ago and seeing the World Trade Centre, 9/11 memorial and museum was surreal. Walking down the steps into the museum hits you with this eerie feeling.
I was a couple of months into my twenties and I actually had that day off. Went into work on Fleet Street to collect something I'd forgot and it was like a ghost town as all of the bankers and such were probably glued to the news inside their offices. Very surreal day. Only thing experienced like it was 7/7 but that was another story (they stopped all public transport in Central London for one).
I had just started my first day at a new job in a boarding school and the Headmistress told us that her son was on his way by train to the World Trade Centre. We all passed some anxious hours until he made contact and said that he was OK.What a relief all round.
