Shoes Indoors?
Ask a Question
Do you take your shoes off when you go to someones house?
I always do as I was raised that way, but don't mind if people keep theirs on at mine.
Yes always do since l was a child, l remember when l was house hunting l would take my shoes of when l was viewing properties, l also have plastic shoe covers for when we have workmen doing jobs.. cannot help myself
Pinkspirit I need to get some of those shoe covers for when we get work done - great tip!
In some houses I do and think it’s good manners to as long as you have socks on! No one wants to see your feet indoors. I take a spare pair of slippers. Having said that in other houses people haven’t and I couldn’t really expect it at mine. My carpet is now filthy and worn out and I’m considering replacing. If I do then in future it’s definitely shoes off!
Yes I do in most. But am easy going at mine as tiled in kitchen diner and most people are gracious enough to take off shoes when entering the carpeted living room.
martinlufc5637 Do you feel okay asking people to take them off at the door?
SamGoodship yes I have no problem telling them, we had a new kitchen last year, workmen were told, you could tell with their face they didn't like it
I used to but now it’s difficult to take them off and more so trying to put them back on I don’t but people understand.
I typically just ask them what they want me to do but i do take my trainers off in my own house
SamGoodship if they are dirty then yeah but otherwise i have no issue with people keeping their footwear on
Yes, I always do even if I haven’t got socks on. My feet are going to be cleaner than the bottom of my shoes. I have a sign on my door which says. Life is full of choices, remove your shoes or scrub the floor
even if someone's house is dirty I still take my shoes off ,so do my children, we just buy new socks
I expect people to remove their shoes in my house, so I do the same even if it's a bit skanky
Yes I always take my shoes off when I go into someone else's house. Although strangely enough don't mind of people keep their shoes on in my house.
I respect the wished of the house owner. A couple of our friends do prefer you to take shoes off but most like us really are not fussed.
Years ago I went to my childhood friend's Stepdad's sister's near Meadowhall in Sheffield...Before we went into her home she made my friend & I bath our feet in a bowl of water, I never went back!!
janphoenix51An over the top so called friend! I'm so glad you've never repeated this nonsense.
jam45 , Wasn't my friend but her step dad's sister! My friend thought it was over the top too, believe me!!
Pfs ...No we did not, my friend & I had pure white socks on!!
The Srep Aunt was just fussy, we never went back!
It's personal choice, some people want you to take shoes off before entering their home, some don't, I always offer to but sometimes I'm told I don't have to take shoes off..
Sure the shoes come off. I offer at other peoples houses too though sometimes the say keep them on. I hate idea of bringing the dirty from outisde into home
We take our shoes off and expect guests to do the same, and we have a sign saying all footwear to be removed. Please
And when we go to someone's
Home, we always remove footwear
When you consider the dirt on pavements both from people and animals (!) surely no-one can really consider keeping your shoes on when you get home or enter someone else's house?
