Shops
Ask a Question
It’s so sad that so many shops are disappearing. I really prefer to see an item in real life reality where I can feel the quality and fit of things. Unfortunately there isn’t much left and I’m feeling forced to go online. Seems Amazon have nearly everything. However you have to pay delivery and return charges/inconvenience. I don’t want to pay for prime. Does subscribe and save cost anything? Seems there are lots of good prices from Latest Deals.
I totally agree, it's such a shame but inevitable I suppose with the costs involved in running a shop. Amazon is great but the more competitors the better for consumers surely.
I like shopping online but I love poodling around the shops and having a browse. It's exercise and fresh air as well.
I agree with you, I like to see and feel what i'm buying, I do miss Debenhams to have a wander around, could get lost in there for hours.
I be fare the shops because you can have a good look around for bargains example last night I went to my local supermarket and got 2 chickens £1.50 each were online i dont think you will not get that
I agree, I prefer to see a product in person but unfortunately online shopping is way too convenient for most people. On my local highstreet shops are closing all the time because they don't get the footfall and rents are too high.
I am surprised they haven't thought of virtual reality shopping yet
You could wear the headset at home and walk a round their virtual store trying things on
You just scan yourself for overall body measurements and the programme works out which outfits will fit , even shoes
I am sure it will happen sometime in the future,
Sadly the joy of physical interactive shopping would be lost forever
Our local town centre is a ghost town, most shops are either charity shops or mobile phone shops, nearly all the banks have gone, our local council has completely destroyed our town, closed the big outdoor market to replace it for a car park, even the indoor market most shops vacant, really sad to see what's happened here....
martinlufc5637 Yes sadly I think that is slowly happening to most towns now. There will be nothing left.
JLouM we had a big Wilko store now that's gone too, we don't go into town now because of all the beggers and groups of people drinking ect... It use to have a good nighlife for going for a drink, 2 nightclubs and loads of decent pubs, now we have 0 nightclubs and most of the pubs are closed down
Our high street still has loads of shops on it and they are well used. I shop in store the majority of the time and only shop online when necessary.
Use of Amazon is highly destructive to our economy, they don't pay corporation tax here and where they do pay it in Europe it isn't much either as they run Amazon pretty much to break even to avoid tax and the profits are put back into the business to expand it.
I think the people and politicians of this country are on economic self-destruct and of course the debts are mounting up so we are delaying the huge effects of this by borrowing which means even greater poverty in the future.
I don't pay for prime but do make use of Amazon's warehouse where goods have been returned by customers and sold cheaper plus I also make use of Amazon when there are vouchers available. I will never just buy off Amazon though without checking for cheaper prices elsewhere.
I noticed this ebike on Amazon at £1400 but on ebay you can buy the later improved version for about £1000 or less if you find an auction listing. The later model is improved in quite a few ways too. This Amazon listing is likely old stock. There are lots of extremely uncompetitive prices on Amazon. Searching the site is also often terrible, pushing you towards more expensive items and can take some time to find the competitively priced items. It often ignores what you have put in the search box when you choose 'show prices low to high' you get a huge amount of items not relevant to your search. It can take a long time to find competively priced items on Amazon.

I do feel online is often better priced but I see a huge amount of people that will waste huge amounts of money as they use online for convenience especially Amazon and pay more than they need to.
