You could exercise hard up to about 1 hour before you go to bed, i.e. exhaust yourself but don't exercise right up to the point you go to bed. After exercising have a shower and perhaps a hot chocolate.

This is what I do, not that I struggle falling asleep anyway lol. But great idea as after exercising you can relax a lot easier after x

Clear your mind before trying to get to sleep . Sometimes worries or vexing questions can keep your mind too active to fall asleep .

I have a tele in the bedroom but never use it at night in case a thought provoking program starts me thinking . Instead I read a fiction novel and find I'm dropping off within a chapter or two .

Lavender mist pillow spray usually helps me.

laraquinn I agree, I also made my own after buying the leading brand and loving it. I’ve also got a lavender sleep roll on to apply to pressure points, this works really well, probably even better than the pillow spray

I suffer from insomnia on & off. I have found having a bath before going to bed, drinking a sleep herbal tea (I prefer Yogi sleep tea but Puka slept is nice) & reading before sleeping, all help. Also no phone/ tablet whilst in bed.

Search for my comments under deals and read them. That should get you sleeping within a few minutes.

I have the same problem with sleep but love having coffee. I give myself a cut off point of 1 o'clock in the afternoon of no more coffee after that.It has helped

GSM Substitute Hot chocolate , Ovaltine , Horlicks or Cocoa for your evening drink ( no caffeine ) then immerse yourself in a novel . You'll soon drop off .

Its all about clearing all the daytime thoughts and worries from your mind (not easy I know ) no better way to do it than reading a fiction book .

I often wake up in the middle of the night - specs still on , book on the pillow and bedside light on .

I can’t offer any advice to change your sleeping pattern but if you share with friends they will give you plenty. Just ignore them believe me they really don’t know! No one does. Accept that you’re unique and cope as best you can. Don’t lay in bed for hours go watch tv or play online games not gambling.

An overactive mind and restlessness usually keep people up. Finding ways to use up your excess energy, or workout stress usually helps. Meditating before you get ready for bed might be good in helping you lower the heart rate and calm your mind

TiaTia I’m quite happy laying in bed in the mornings when others are busy getting on with life but the hours spent in darkness makes my brain work overtime.

Pjran I'm the same, my brain seems to go into overdrive as soon as my head hits the pillow, no matter how much I attempt to deviate it never works. Sometimes I just get up and watch a bit of TV and have a cuppa and other times I just lay there all night. 😥
