Sleep App to be encouraged by the nhs rather than medication . Would you Use ?

Ask a Question

So the nhs is going to give out a sleep app rather than sleeping pills to help with insomnia

This will be £45 for 12 months

This is to help with people becoming addicted to sleep medication

Insomnia is a debilitating condition , tiredness impacts on people’s life’s

Would you rather use the app than medication ?

Will it work ?

It would be rather difficult for me as I don't have a smart phone! Perhaps they would pay for one for me - and for the tutelage so that I know how to use it too.. I would have to stick to pills, however, I haven't been offered any 😩 so I am up by about 3 every morning 🥱 all on my lonesome until Mr T gets up 😁

tumblespots I’m not 100% sure how an app would stop insomnia , I can see how could monitor it but not sure how would stop

It’s horrible not to get a good nights sleep I’m sorry for you I’ve been like that to

Aenurse1 I have been like it for more than 10 years now, I don't think it will ever change.

But you are right, I don' see how an app can force you to sleep?!

tumblespots it seems to be common in women (hope I haven’t arrived at the wrong conclusion there). I had years of waking at about 3, whereas my husband sleeps through anything. Lots of my friends are the same.

Grannyclock Yes, I am a lady. Mr T also seems to sleep through anything and everything. I have a friend who again is always up early and her husband also sleeps well.

I would not really want to try something that costs £45 incase it doesn't work maybe if they offer a free/low cost trial...

Imnotcheap works out to less than £4 a month

Imnotcheap I agree. I wasted about £100 on acupuncture because the doctors couldn’t diagnose a pain I was getting.

Aenurse1 it's not expensive if it works for you but it is if it doesn't and with the cost of living right now. I would be wary of wasting money if not good for me

Grannyclock hope your pains better now

Your braver than me I had nightmares for months after going with my mum when she had acupuncture

Imnotcheap you may be justified in that. One time the woman left a needle in me! Pain still there but I have a tablet that helps at night, thanks.

I have used a meditation sleep before and it works really well for me. I have never taken any medication for sleep.

I bet the person who came up with this idea has never had insomnia, if it were that easy to do people wouldn't use tablets in the first place. I haven't slept well since my teens and it took years to get doctors to listen and give me tablets to help me sleep.

Good idea I think to have another option, could be useful for those who would prefer an alternative to medication, people who have tried medication and it hasn’t worked, anyone who cant take medication for any reason

Iv tried mediation and it helps but some nights I’ll go all the way through the night and when it’s like that I think pills are needed
