Smart Kettles?

Ask a Question

Are they really worth the money, or would people prefer normal electric one's, just asking as I would like to own one, thanks.

My sister has a Quooker tap. Expensive initially but no waiting for kettles to boil and instant boiling water must have paid for itself. Quite impressive but not sure we could afford installation so staying with ordinary kettle.

They could get away with being called smart if they could actually make a cuppa and not just boil the water lol 🤣.

I haven’t used a kettle in years as I have a boiling tap. I know it cost more to run but I could not live without it now.

eyeballkerry id love a qooker tap, they look and seem amazing. It’s just the expense that puts me off but I’d definitely love one if I could afford it. Definitely a bucket list item for me

chele44 Its not the qooker one but very similar. Had it quite a few years now, probably before the qooker one came out. It was a lot cheaper.

Personally I believe the basic model of most things will suffice. Manufacturers just keep on adding frills, fancies, colours, slight modifications so people keep buying same products to 'update' when it really isn't necessary. So much stuff we buy does not enhance our lives or well being and are just meaningless gadgets.

Have to say I can't see the point in a smart kettle. The normal kettle does the job perfectly. My mother in law has a one cup, which I sort of like, but unless the smart kettle is actually making the cup of tea, it doesn't do anything a regular one doesn't.

I used to like the old whistling ones but the standard electric ones boil quicker.Certainly don't need a kettle that tells me when it's boiling!

When they can make a cup of tea, then I'd call them smart lol, I prefer the old fashioned way, actually getting up and turning it on

To help me with my every day to day living (I'm disabled) I have a water heating machine where all I have to do is press the button. It is economical and I do not have to wait for it to boil. The water is kept at the same temperature and therefore it is cheaper overall than having a kettle. I don't want to have smart devices if I can help it because it only serves to allow manipulation by companies who want these products to be popular and overall encourage me to sit on my bum and do less than I am able.

I'd love to know the benefits of a smart kettle myself. It might be something for the future when it's cheaper
