So Will Anybody Be Trying Threads, the New Twitter Alternative?

In the News

From the makers of Instagram and Facebook, threads is seen as a twitter alternative.

I'll be trying it out, I find twitter to be very toxic, and now Elon Musk has taken it over it seems to be lurching from one disaster to the next.

Will you be trying it?

I haven’t heard of it but would certainly give it a go. Twitter has really changed from the early days and a lot of nastiness on there.

Is it live this Thursday? I’d give it a go.

Might do as twitter is pushing people towards blue verification which costs.

blacklabrador did you see the thing about limiting people viewing to posts?

SilverSurfer On twitter? Yep, but you can view more if you pay for a blue tick 😠

It will be worth a look, maybe on Friday onwards as everyone will be trying to join on Thursday.

Or could wait a week and see how other people are finding it.

In saying that I have managed to avoid joining TikTok so far though! 😁

Gosh I seem to be the only one thus far with a vehement NO!

Do we really need more social media platforms, most can't deal with the ones we have.

Lynibis I agree. We already have enough social media platforms as it is. But each to our own I guess.

Lynibis I agree but if this is to REPLACE the use of Twitter, which is completely different to Facebook and Instagram (the main other 2 I use) then I'm for it.

I'm undecided on this one as I'm not a fan of any media related to Meta... 🙄

Consumer I guess it comes down to which annoying Billionaire you prefer, Elon Musk or Mark Zuckerberg

Consumer it’s a shame that they are all being owned and run by the same companies, as often when one goes down and has technical errors, they all usually do.

When WhatsApp, Facebook & Instagram go down they all flock to Twitter 😆

I think it's good to have more options. Although I've never really used twitter, I think Elon Musk is doing a great job of ruining it.

Midnightflower Sadly he does this a lot. He only has to post some ill informed tweet about Tesla and Billions of dollars are wiped off the companies value.

The only trouble is we get these new platforms being released all the time as the "new facebook", the "next twitter" etc most of which son fade into obscurity. I will look at the new platform and give it a go as Musk is doing his level best to destroy Twitter, but I dont have high hopes... The fact that it comes from the team behind Facebook does not fill me with confidence either

didbygraham True, but then Instagram seems to work fairly well, and doesn't have the drama and idiots of twitter or Facebook.

The name 'Threads' reminds me of that grim BBC nuclear holocaust drama that didn't pull its punches when it came to the reality of nuclear war. I never really used Twitter myself and probably won't use Threads either. There is just too many websites and apps to waste time on.

It’s up and running now.

If you go into your Instagram, go to your profile, click the three lines (via the app) click Threads, it will take you to download the app and allow you to transfer your username and details if you want to 😊
