What's something you resent paying for?

Mine is the gas, it costs too much to keep warm now.

Council Tax. This has to be worse thing that was ever created. They make enough money off us along side parking charges as well.

Insurance, if i have the savings to pay for any damage i may cause in an accident, why should i have to pay yearly when Ive been driving for 10 years and never had any issue.

I get that operationally it’s essential but it annoys me that when you do go to do a claim they try to pay out less than you have insured the thing for even though you’ve paid a price based on it being worth a certain amount.

jms19 That post is ridiculous! Why should you pay insurance!!

jms19 me thinks you don’t quite understand the concept of motoring insurance!??

Because your insurance isn’t just to pay for the damage to your vehicle, it’s to pay for the damages you do to other vehicles or other people.

With medical bills alone running into thousands plus the potential of being sued by the victims.

Fatabelly well ofc i understand it’s to pay for damage to my own and other vehicles. I was saying if i had the money to cover that expense (theoretically) i shouldn’t have to pay for insurance.

Also my issue isn’t with the insurance itself, it’s with the inflated costs.

Electricity, tax as my government just wastes it on things we don't need like turning a carpark into 3 offices that aren't needed

TV licence (as BBC pays ‘talent’ far to much especially Gary Linkear, if not paying the licence is a criminal offence then those who are legally forced to pay it should have a say on how the money is spent-especially when they put on a lot of repeats and show films from the 1950s!) and car park charges as these are cash cows for local councils and don’t help the local shops.

Tv licence. Council tax to an extend, I think it’s a ridiculous amount to pay now.

Gas and Electric, TV licence, 1st class postage stamps, some shops charging for click and collect. High hospital car parking charges, council tax and petrol prices which keep changing every few days.

Water bill. I feel like something essential for life should be free and paying for it feels like the sunlight tax from the 1700s

DanielleMcK1992 I know- back in my day (growing up in 60s& 70s) my mum had water bill included in rent- it was about a fiver &it was listed as part of the rent charge- even private or council homes it was all same.

DanielleMcK1992 that's my pet hate, because it's far too expensive. Water companies continually fail to repair leaks that waste billions of gallons, and have been allowed to pollute our waterways, which saves them money and ruins our ecology. Privatising everything was the biggest tory con of them all.

gothvixen exactly! They pollute our waterways and are now on about increasing our water bills to pay for repairs etc we're looking at a possible increase of £11 per household. I did a survey not long ago that was asking if people would be willing to pay an extra £35 x

caztoo agreed with this….the difference between councils is crazy. Yes the local areas may be different council tax pays for the same services in each area.

greenmist22 Most of all, the standing charge for lekky and gas - even if you're a low user or you're away for a week and don't use any energy, you're still paying a few hundred each year for nothing.

Toilets , Luckily in my local town Toilet Facilities are free , but particularly during the summer when we travel to different tourist areas , we come across toilets where they expect you to pay which i think is totally wrong, these should be funded by the local councils.

I resent being asked to pay to ensure I receive a parcel.

I recently ordered a jumper online, it was around £50 with another £4 Postage and Packing.

Then on the checkout page I get asked if I'd like to pay an additional £3 so that I am covered in case the parcel gets lost in transit.

Unless I've missed something it is very much the senders problem if I don't receive a parcel, not mine.

Needless to say I didn't pay this insurance premium.

They were also the sort of company that asked if I'd like to tip the warehouse workers who fulfilled my order - again that was a big fat no.

I resented paying for the TV License and when the price of electricity/gas went up too I decided enough was enough. I gave my TV to one of my neighbours, much to their delight and got a projector. I have cream walls so I can use the projector to watch ITVX or youtube as large as I like without paying for a TV license or the high amount of electricity my old TV used.
