Could you eat these Japanese superfoods to help you live longer ?
Ask a Question
I am all for eating healthfully and will happily eat salads, cut down on sugar and salt and eat plenty of fruit
But having just read this article about what the Japanese eat to stay healthy and live longer i am not sure i could change my diet to their foods to do this
Seaweed is ok, providing it is cooked to a crisp , but i draw the line at fermented items
I had enough when in Iceland trying to eat their fermented fish , and Japanese Natto sounds just as unappealing
But what are your opinions on changing your diet for the best, could you eat these superfoods ?
Natto isn't that bad. I like it. It can be purchased in the UK from Asian food stores, for example - www.japancentre.com/en/products/19070-marukin-foods-frozen-marukin-foods-tsuyudaku-natto-fermented-soybeans
The article should have also mentioned the vegetable, Goya (aka Bitter Melon), which is popular on Okinawa, 'one of the areas with the most centenarians' - savvytokyo.com/japanese-superfoods-goya/
Fried seaweed is scrummy as for the rest I'm afraid I do not think they are ever going to happen. Fermented fish sounds awful, so that's definitely not happening lol. Also is Saki a superfood? (asking for a friend)
EmmaWright762 I love seaweed E, if part of a chinese meal, but most substitute fried lettuce instead.
If saki isn't a superfood, or drink it should be, i made some once with other homemade wines, it was so strong
