Which Store Do Think is Cheaper Lidl or Aldi???
Money Saving
Personally, I've always been more of a Lidl person. Then, an aldi person, I especially love their bakery, and I even have the app. However, for aldi, I still do use it since it is closer than Lidl for me.
I think it depends on what you buy. I struggle a bit in Lidl and Aldi due to a more limited range and some items are not an acceptable quality to me. I have absolutely no supermarket loyalty and keep changing where I shop mainly due to use of vouchers which is the cheapest way to shop. Both Aldi and Lidl as far as Know just have low quality parbaked type bakeries as found in convenience stores and petrol station shops etc. The bakery products are made with excessive amounts of yeast and additional chemicals and then frozen halfway through cooking and then the store just continues cooking them. It's not real bakery products it's a low grade form of bakeries where the end product doesn't stay fresh for very long due to excessive levels of yeast rapidly turning the items stale. The fully baked pre-packed bread etc in Lidl and Aldi will be much healthier and last longer but may not smell as nice as cold.

Personally I find items cheaper or more expensive in both supermarkets. I wouldn't say one is cheaper than the other or more expensive. However when I have a £5 off voucher on the Lidl Plus app which I occasionally get then Lidl is definitely cheaper. Aldi don't really do any promotions or vouchers the price you see is the price you pay mostly.
I prefer Lidl. I only buy certain things in Aldi as I can't get them in Lidl but can from Aldi. There isn't much of a difference price wise but lidl can be cheaper because of the offers on the app.
I prefer Aldi personally as i feel Lidl has a smaller range of consistent products and ive often been in and not been able to do a full shop.
I think Aldi’s meat is better but the Lidl bakery section is a big plus.
As for which is cheaper, i can’t say Ive really noticed much difference in price
I have to say I prefer our local Lidls to Aldi, simply because it's cleaner. The prices vary on different products so it all depends on what you want to buy. Also the stores in different areas seem to have different standards.
I don't shop in either Aldi or Lidl as I prefer to buy low fat, low sugar or % items which they don't have much of.I dislike that jumble sale of goods down the centre of the shop which always appears very disorganised.
SueWard Its very rare I go in either unless I’m on holiday. Aldi is Australia is so different to here. Although Lidl in Lanzarote, where I am now is exactly the same, overcrowded and rude staff.
For me it has to be Lidl and only cos we don’t have Aldi in Northern Ireland. I must admit I like Lidl for fresh fruit as I can see what I’m buying and lot cheaper than Tesco which is just across the road from Lidl. I also enjoy the fresh bread too
I shop in Aldi as for me it just tips Lidl. Personally I don't think that there is much difference between either moneywise.
Asda is just as cheap if you are a savvy shopper. I find in aldi and lidl the fresh produce like salad is below par and don't last long.
The chickens look like they haven't been fed when alive.
Ste247 makes a good point about being savvy. I am not loyal to any particular supermarket and have signed up for all the loyalty programs. I will try out supermarket branded products to determine if I see value for it in my shopping list. With that, I do mix it up with Asda, Lidl and Sainsbury's as they are close by to me. I use apps like Trolley to keep up-to-date with price changes, so I know how to split my shopping list.
EDIT: Fixing loads of typo's
To answer the original question, I would have to choose LIDL for two main reasons: location (location, location!) and the App prices. Although I find they are pretty much comparable on similar products, Aldi moved their store out of the town centre, so I pay more just to shop there.
Whilst there maybe only 20-30 price reductions in the App, if you shop those items, you’re saving over Aldi prices straightaway as they offer nothing but the shelf price.
The LIDL Plus App gives you little extras as well with Spin to Win after each shop, currently you get free fruit items and then if your monthly shopping hits certain targets, you get other rewards too.
On a wider view, as has been mentioned, if you’re savvy shopping, with all the Aldi & LIDL price matching at the other main supermarkets along with loyalty scheme prices, you can save at these stores too.
