'Sunburning' Acne Cure TikTok Trend Could Increase Risk of Cancer
In the News
I don't know how many times i have berated TikTok for allowing its users to post ridiculous and dangerous trends
The latest one , burning yourself in the sun to cure acne is one of the worst i have seen
Who in their right mind would go in the sun to deliberately burn and risk cancer to remove a few spots, even if it worked, which i doubt
As i have said many times before, this Chinese social media website needs taking down before people or seriously hurt , there seems to be no vetting as on facebook etc

Always moderation where the sun is involved and again tanning reduces the skin's ability to absorb Vitamin D so its a delicate balance. Enjoy the sun for a short while, cover up and feel good with the boost of vitamin D. Try to get a very light tan at best.
We seem to think that all medical advice about things we should apply on or take into our bodies are true if they are on news, in magazines and especially social media. The ignorance and naivety of some people is of epidemic proportions and many of them post dangerous health and political views and many more believe them. I cannot see any value in tik tok and I agree it should be taken down. I use social media (fb & insta) and feel they can be useful for families, local news, what's on etc.
During my short foray into tik tok I answered two comments without swearing or offensive words and both were taken down as 'against guidelines'. But I continued to see absolute filth; screaming into camera, swearing of the worst kind, and so on. I then stopped using it.
Ridiculous. We don't use tick tok. Not a surprise though. Tick tok won't take it down they will love that people will be talking about tick tok as they will know some will go and watch it therefore more people using their platform
We all know uv helps with acne that is one of the reasons I started going on sunbeds until I became addicted to them I wouldn't recommend it if it's that bad see a gp
