FAQs
- What about Lidl, Co-Op, Savers, Poundland etc.?
We don't track these places at present. We may do in future.
- What products do you track?
We don't want to say exactly what products for a variety of reasons, but it is a common basket of goods that form the 20 most bought products. We find the cheapest available option for the same size.
- Iceland seems wrong, it's not that expensive
Iceland is a unique supermarket because it doesn't sell much of it's own brand goods. Basic items, such as those we tend to collect data on, tend to be more expensive at Iceland. Iceland does sell other items, such as large packs of frozen meat, at cheaper prices than other supermarkets - however we don't necessarily track all those product prices for the purposes of this.
- How can I compare prices myself?

Please, please, please track Lidls, it's the only place near enough to me that is really mobility scooter friendly. The staff can't do enough for me and the food is really affordable, but I could be wrong. I won't know if it's the most affordable though until you track them too. Thanks in advance.
These comparisons means nothing without knowing what is compared. What is cheaper for you maybe entirely different especially if you go to a supermarket where you can't get a full shop and have to go to multiple supermarkets all costing additional time and fuel costs. Aldi, Lidl, Iceland and Farmfoods all have limited ranges compared to other stores and many of these price comparisons don't compare the value items from major supermarkets to the Lidl and Aldi products which is basically the same quality. Just because Lidl and Aldi have done labels that look like Heinz or Cadburys etc doesn't mean they should be compared in price to those big brands in major supermarkets they should be compared to the big supermarket value brands. When I go to Tesco I just buy the value brands and offers pretty much. I'm actually finding it cheaper than Aldi and Lidl for what I buy. My Tesco has a floor area that seems about 3-5x bigger than Aldi or Lidl.
