FAQs
What about Lidl, Co-Op, Savers, Poundland etc.?
We don't track these places at present. We may do in future.
What products do you track?
We don't want to say exactly what products for a variety of reasons, but it is a common basket of goods that form the 20 most bought products. We find the cheapest available option for the same size.
Iceland seems wrong, it's not that expensive
Iceland is a unique supermarket because it doesn't sell much of it's own brand goods. Basic items, such as those we tend to collect data on, tend to be more expensive at Iceland. Iceland does sell other items, such as large packs of frozen meat, at cheaper prices than other supermarkets - however we don't necessarily track all those product prices for the purposes of this.
How can I compare prices myself?

At least these analyses show us which order the consist cheap shops are. However it doesn't show us the product types
20 most commonly bought items isn't really useful especially as we don't know exactly what the items are. This would be much fairer and realistic if it was random items so supermarkets couldn't manipulate prices just for the most common items and if a supermarket doesn't sell the random item selected it gets punished in the ratings as it forces you to have to go to another supermarket with all the extra time and fuel that requires. The way Latestdeals does this is it favours Lidl and Aldi which has a much higher percentage of imported food and we have an economic crisis caused by too high a level of imports. So this is very destructive to our economy which ultimately means people are poorer and have less money to spend. Unfortunately it is symbolic of how stupid a country we have become economically.
