Taking Time off Work for Mental Health...
Ask a Question
Have you ever had to take time off work due to poor mental health?
Should all workplaces offer a mental health day or two? According to a mental health charity, the UK is at risk of burning out with a "worrying number of people" taking time off due to stress.
Ha ha
Not laughing at mental health just that my boss would care which is extra sad because I work in care industry. I have asked for time off when my kids off in February I will find out if I can have time off when I get that rota and we get 3 in a week. Today I have to be in two places at once again had to change rota round again
I would try and book it as holiday if possible and then if I couldn't and it was a super bad day, then it would be a sick day, as mental illness is an illness and it can affect us all differently. If I'm able to take the time I NEED off then it means I can be there and focus better to recover to be there for a longer time.
I struggle massively but it doesn't always come with a warning, so sadly it wouldn't be fair for me to get a job in a place where I am 'needed' like care or emergency services or even helping others with mental health. I can help on a basis where I can select hours or help online, but my own mental health would stop me from helping those that need it possibly when they need it. So as much as I love helping others, it's extra pressure, which would likely make my mental health worse and it would be counter productive and put others at risk for now
