Tap Water vs Filtered Water: Which is Best for Your Health ?
In the News
You would have thought filtered water would be better than tap water with it removing the impurities
But apparently this isn't the case
Despite tasting better by removing the chlorine taste , it also removes other elements that are good for you
Some filters may remove the fluoride, which is beneficial for dental health and It may strip your water of healthy minerals along with contaminants
They do make the water softer but to do this remove magnesium and calcium, as well as iron and manganese, which are good for you

I know people who swear by distilled water, which has reduced some of the health issues they’ve had when they switched
We filter water, well my wife does, I drink a lot of bottled water, I think it all tastes the same to be honest
martinlufc5637 I suppose its personal choice M , i have filters myself, i find it cheaper than bottled
I think it depends where you live and the quality of water that is being supplied to your household. We have a filter on our fridge dispenser but I have no problems drinking from the tap.
eyeballkerry Yes the region you live is the decider E, whether the water is hard or not
I use a water filter jug as where I live the water is really hard - it used to scale the kettle up really quick.
I love mountain water. My friends home (not UK) has tap water which comes straight from the mountains melted snow. No chlorine, no fluoride, just clean fresh water. I hate to sound like a worry wort but I am concerned about the water companies very poor track record and the lack of trust many have in our government. Let's face it we have little choice in the UK but to buy drinking water or take our chances with tap water.
I don't particularly trust the water company and often wonder if there are things in it that I wouldn't want to ingest so I drink bottled water whenever possible, but, it is more expensive!
