My personal opinion is that it's disgusting the amount of profit they have taken during the cost of living crisis. It's all very well for them to make claims about being a provider of cheaper alternatives but honestly it would not hurt them at all to dip into their own pockets (not customer donations) and help out financially to deserving charities in a response to the immense sum of profits they have accrued becoming public knowledge.

I agree with EmmaWright762 this is a staggering profit reaped throughout the living crises. I believe full time employees of Tesco will get a £300 goodwill gesture. It would be nice if they could sponsor vulnerable people, charities and food banks...that might already be the case, be nice to know if profits get shared out a little x

See this is the issue i have, we are told they have to put up prices due to things beyond their control but then we’re seeing record profits at a time when a lot of people are really struggling.

Doesn’t sit right at all just like when the petrol companies had record profits around the same time that they put the petrol prices up to £2 a litre

There profits are always going to soar because people still buy their products. Nothing Is going to change. TESCO`S are expensive anyways. I personally shop around. It Is the Supermarkets ripping us off. We moan, but we still shop there. When the Petrol went up, we still bought from them. The Government did not Intervene because they was getting their tax from It. What If we did not shop there? They would lower their prices otherwise they would be out of Business.

Why pick on Tesco and the petrol suppliers for their unacceptable profits? Why not pick on the gas, water, broadband and mobile phones companies' profits? Their profit makes me so, so angry.

Tesco have a large debt pile so a lot of their profit will be going on paying that. They also pay dividends to shareholders and those shareholders may be pension funds so many will have their pensions financed by Tesco profits. I love my local Tesco its a huge store with a huge range and it carries the full range of value options plus they have many great offers including clubcard deals. I think its a brilliant shop but I simply ignore the high price options most of the time which are there. The fruit and veg is fantastic quality with some very decent offers. Love the store. However I'm a cheapskate so when I have a voucher will use other supermarkets. I don't use Tesco that much because it seems like I often have a voucher to use elsewhere.

They are a business and have thousands of staff to support. The profit is obviously due to their customers willing to pay for goods so they must be doing something right.

Every business has to make money. Yes there are some that are making more than others, but that is the nature of business. I always buy the value or standard range in Tesco, never the premium. The clothing section is great and our local one donates food to the food bank and clothing to the school uniform bank. Tesco also has a pile of debt so a lot of their profit goes to that.

There are plenty of businesses that we could crucify for their profit margin. Tesco isn't alone in making massive profits.

They are no different to every other company that make massive profits and then have the nerve to still put price's up
