Roadside Memorials: Honoring the Dead or an Inconvenience for the Living?

Ask a Question

Internet rallies round homeowner who wants to remove memorial for dead teen www.mirror.co.uk/news/us-news/homeowner-wants-remove-memorial-dead-32440639

I can see both sides really , if I brought a new home I wouldn’t really won’t a memorial by the side of it , but if a loved one died I can see why people like to visit that spot . What do you think ??

Without sounding hard hearted I don't think I would want to visit where a loved one died, let alone have a monument, it is not particularly nice for those nearby. Surely visiting the grave, or where the ashes are interred is preferable.

My sons say my ashes will be shared between them and kept on mantlepiece. Hmmmm neither of them have mantlepieces.....

Lynibis I do agree I maybe would go once but that would be it a grave more fitting I think x. As for the mantelpiece I’m sure they’ll have somewhere special ♥️♥️

Aenurse1 I think they were joking and I am sure whatever they do will be fitting lol. Maybe plant something and dig in the ashes, or sprinkle off the end of our town pier 😂😂😂

Lynibis I totally agree with. Someone I used to know died on a zebra crossing. I hate driving that way and tend to avoid it.

It's a difficult subject, however we have graveyards to remember our loved ones who have passed

I have one near me where a young lad was stabbed. It's a nightmare cos groups assemble and play loud cacophonous music out of their cars into the early hours and often set fireworks off.The police drive around but seldom if ever call it off.The shrine is surrounded by all the glass bottles they consume as well.Young women and old people are afraid to confront these lads cos some of them are the original gang members.
