Thinking of Getting Blue Glasses
Ask a Question
I'm thinking of getting blue glasses to make the world less bright. Don't know anything about them or where to start looking.
I bought some to reduce blue screen damage aka too long on phones and pcs. They are ok but better overall to just reduce screen time.
MelissaLee1 I don't have that much screen time just find life too bright and people don't like you wearing sunglasses all the time
Imnotcheap I wear sunglasses most of the time when outside, even in Winter unless it's really dull. Optician told me when still a teen I had light sensitive eyes. Never heard of blue glasses but maybe I should look into them as I often get headaches, sticky eyes and spend loads of time on my computer or tablet.
What about transition lenses? They adjust to the light. So they have clear lenses but will go darker, depending on the shade you pick and will react to light. Be warned it will react to lights in the supermarket etc not just sunlight. I used to have them back when my parents still paid for everything!
Imnotcheap I'm pretty sure there's transition non-prescription glasses so not for bad eyesight. But it is rather pointless for transition ones if you want it to stay dark.
A really long time ago I saw some transitional bluelight sunglasses but I can't find them now or they don't exist.
I bought almost the cheapest ones a few yrs ago from aliexpress ( they sell them everywhere though). I don't need glasses etc either.
The ones I bought didn't make the world that much darker, if the deep dark world of sunglasses style is what you're looking for. It does make the world slightly less bright; the world was still pretty bright when it was sunny tho, but it toned down all the glare so I could actually see well, compared to how sunglasses make everything dark.
They're designed to hopefully not change the colour etc of what you see too much since it's for screens (it would suck if you design something in the wrong colour) so I'm not sure if that'll be enough for you.
I only wore it a few time out because I accidentally washed out the bluetint with antibacterial soap as covid prevention and now they're mostly clear glasses ..so just a heads up.
There's some with yellow lenses but the idea of not changing what you see it the same - unless you got some really rubbish ones that turned everything yellow.
Also, I'm not used to glasses but after wearing them for a while, it hurt my nose bridge a bit even though they were really light - sunglasses usually have a wider frame (I think) so if you're going for something more expensive I'd consider the shape/fitting if you plan on wearing it all day. Ah, I haven't really worn sunglasses much/ long periods of time - does it not hurt your nose after a while if you're wearing it all day?
hky I've not found sunglasses hurt but that's definitely something to think about I have enough problems with hearing aid hurting my ear. They looking at it again soon so hopefully will get that fixed
What do you think to the idea of have glasses that have a yellow brown tint to them? According to information on the Specsavers website. The information says that some studies have shown that this colour can help to reduce light sensitivity.
I bought a pair of those yellow lens glasses to help with the glare of car headlights they are great for driving at night but also find them better than sunglasses in the daytime
I suffer from visual snow syndrome so I have light sensitivity issues as one of the symptoms so I needed a certain type of glasses lens to help with the symptoms. It took a while to find the right pair of lens that work for me but the best ones I have are from boots, they know a small company in the north of England (can’t remember name unfortunately) that specialise in these type of glasses lens. These glasses are mainly for visual snow but they do help with making bright lights such as outside during the day less harsh on your eyes. Hope this helps.
