Thunderstorm is on Its Way to Us

Ask a Question

Do you have any rhymes or songs or sayings for when a thunderstorm is on its way? I usually count in elephants for how many miles it is away.

I admittedly like seeing rain, but thunderstorms scare the hell out of me as it looks and sounds as though it's very close.

PhilipMarc Weather is fascinating to watch. I do enjoy a heavy downpour as long as I’m indoors. Been caught out a couple of times.

Leannexxx Really depends where you live. My mum lives about three minutes away from me and she will tell me it’s not raining when it is at ours.

Not really. When I was living at home about 12 years old or so, we were getting ready for bed but loud thunderstorms. We spontaneously burst into sound of music 🎶 favourite things. We had a laugh. Next day neighbours told us they could here us! 😅. These days just check the app. Make sure nothing dangerous about for lightning ⚡️.

JLouM Loving your story. I am a bit of a singer, the kind where I think I sound awesome but nobody does. I don’t sing in public.

LL81 That doesn’t sound good, glad you survived it. I made sure everything was in from the garden yesterday and it didn’t last long.

telmel They can be pretty scary if you are out in them. You want to shelter under a tree but they say that’s one of the worse places to be.

eyeballkerry Yes don’t do that. Lightning strikes trees and they fall! Better in a car as at least earth to rubber tyres!

Jackscot I do find them a bit scary but truly fascinating. I was in a motor home a couple of years ago in Australia during a thunder storm, that was scary.
