Tomato Soup

I just had a can. The first for a few months but was really craving. Has anyone else noticed it has CHANGED. I used to love that hot peppery taste at the back of my throat but this one tasted mild and diluted, didn't enjoy it at all. They keep playing around with the recipes of favourite foods. 'New improved flavour' 'improved recipe' etc. But you taste it and yuk, it is not improved at all, just cheaper to make by cutting corners and ingredients! Any other examples?
I make all my own soups now. Like you I fine they were tasteless. Ox tail soup is the worse out. No more bits of meat and a very odd taste. The last time I had tomato soup. It was watery. It use to be thick and tastese. Now I make my own soups. Much better. I do chicken noodles, leek and potatoes, I've yet to do a tomato soup.. And I do a lot of other soup has well. Oh I have made ox tail soup. So much better. And it's more good for you. I was told that a small tin haves half bag of sugar in there soup. Yuk. So I stop buying tins of soups and stared to make my own.
You are right Nicola, the can I had tasted very sweet, too much so. That could be because I gave up sugar at the end of last year so now I am sensitive to the taste of it. I do make soup but have a few cans in the larder for emergencies, home made definitely best.
I have noticed that some tomato soups are very sweet. I think the more expensive tins have a better taste, but they will never be as good as home made soup.
Was this Heinz? I don't generally buy tinned soup although I do buy fresh soup a fair bit as it's an easy meal when we're busy.
