Other than honey, does anyone have any tip to soothe my throat? I've taken ibrufen for the swelling.

I had it over Xmas and as well as warm drinks as already mentioned u can try ice cream, Ice and even ice lollies to help soothe. If u like tea- try it with fresh ginger and honey also helps. Good luck x

I've been eating lollies. It looks odd as I'm hiding in a blankie.

Not going to lie, the thought of that scares me a little, but I'll give it a shot.

JenniMalt I usually get tonsillitis at least 4 or 5 times a year and using TCP keeps the white spots away and it seems to clear quicker

I used to suffer really bad until at 20 they finally agreed to take them out after 4 years of having tonsillitis pretty much the whole time. And I always used to drink hot water with a couple of tea spoons of honey and a couple of slices of lemon in. Always helped soothe it but never got rid of it.

Keep gargelling with salty water and your just going to have to ride it out with paracetamol and ibuprofen. If you can cope with codeine, replace the paracetamol with co codamol. Getting mine out was the best thing ever. Only took a year to diagnose and a doctor who was a ENT specialist just happened to be covering at my doctors. Best thing ever!

Gargle with salt water. Not too salty but enough that you don't want to swallow it.

My doctor always recommended gargling with soluble paracetamol then swallowing it. Kills 2 birds at once.

I recommend dried hibiscus flowers made in to a tea. The best throat medicine nature gave us. Salt water gargle does help too. Best option is to have the removed and the problem won't come back ;)
