I feel mine is just up I always keep it up until the 5th of January
janphoenix51 yes its trying to get the time together if your both support workers that would be a difficult job hope you have a lovely Christmas and all the best for 2024 thanks for your comment
We always take ours down after new year's day, so on the 2nd, quite a few of our neighbours have already taken theirs down
martinlufc5637 I start taking card and decorations down about then like to leave my tree until the 5th I love it up thanks for your comment, hope you had a lovely Christmas and all the best for 2024
No, but then we're hopefully having 'our' Christmas tomorrow.
We've been ill and had a lot to do, so tomorrow we'd like to actually sit down and have Christmas dinner type meal together. We had Covid last year so had no Christmas, we visited most of the relatives this year, but ended up sleeping most of actual Christmas due to illness.
It always feels fresher and brighter once all of the Christmas decorations and/or tree is away though.
My tree and decorations came down on boxing day. I needed the room for our sons new toys. Tree always comes down on the 26th, I don't follow the 12 days of Christmas.
kate1310 ...My Great Niece turned 6 today so to make it her special day the Christmas decorations are taken down a few days before by my Niece & her Husband & birthday decorations put up overnight, ready for the birthday girl coming downstairs..
Absolutely not. Feels like I just put it up too especiallyas we were late puttingbit up tjus year. We've hosting again New Year's day for dinner but will take down & do a deep clean/tidy again to on the 2nd ready for my birthday a week later.
Glitterandgold I feel as if I have just put mine up took me ages to do I just want to keep it up nobody round about me has there's up hope you had a lovely Christmas and all the best for 2024 hope you gave a lovely birthday when it comes
I don't take mine down until the New Year and always leave something out until the 6th Jan.
HEDGEHOGS does he lol my daughter takes all the Christmas decorations off hers and puts birthday balloons and decorations on for my granddaughters birthday on the 27th December but this year she put the Christmas decorations back on I was in shock lol she normally just takes it down
I usually take mine down on the 30th before New year starts!!
Years ago I took Xmas and decorations down on the 5th but it doesnβt seem right lol
I never had any up apart from my outside real Christmas tree which we decorated in solar lights. I am so glad we didnβt. One less job to do.
eyeballkerry lucky you lol I hate putting it up but then I hate taking it down I do love when it's up hope you had a lovely Christmas and all the best for 2024
kate1310 I used to do it all when my children were younger but until we have young children in the home again I think the magic has gone. The best part about taking down decorations is that your home looks bigger!
eyeballkerry yes you definitely need young children in the house its just not the same I still do it tho my partner loves Christmas so we go all out doing outside and inside
Yep. I have autism and once an occasion has been, it makes me feel overwhelmed having everything out related to it. My wife wanted the lights up still, which is fine as they are up the window lol I canβt see them .
HappyComperZoe that must be difficult for you i do love all the lights hope you had a lovely Christmas and all the best for 2024
My decorations are back into the loft tomorrow. I am looking forward to a less busy looking house, I love to put it all up but my goodness I love to put it away more!
Auntielettie I just hate taking mine down took me long enough to put it all up hope you had a lovely Christmas and all the best for 2024
Our daughter was due on September 7th 1998 & didn't arrive that day,so partner, his brother & I started peeling off all the old wallpaper,we also stripped the Christmas Tree of decorations & moved it to the loft, partner was busy that year, hence Tree being left!
We took ours down yesterday. Our house feels huge now with them down still got the cards up tho
Nope this weekend it comes down. To be fair jve been adding decs to it that I've picked up or given as presents
Jerseydrew so have I been I just don't want to take mine down feel its not long up all the time it takes to do it hope you had a lovely Christmas and all the best for 2024
Ours is still up, couldnβt take it down before new year usually take it down around the 5th/6th depending on work. I was always brought up with the 12 days before and 12 days after - although it is usually up near the start of December now
Usually leave it up until mid January, seems a shame to take it down so early when so much cost and effort has gone into it
I didn't put my tree up this year. I wasn't well. I really miss having the tree. I love decorating it. I didn't put it up last year either. I'm determined next I'm definitely putting the tree up and other decorations. Once there up I don't like to take them down. I can't understand why people take them down on boxing day.
kate1310 Thank you. I'm feeling much better but not quite back to normal. There's only me that's bothered about Christmas my now ex who I still live with isn't bothered. Hopefully next Christmas I'd have moved out and then I'll put loads of decorations and the tree up. Hopefully 2024 is a good year for you and your family too.
If you believe in superstition then all decorations should be down by twelfth night, 6th January but I think a lot of people just want them cleared away now. A christmas tree always looks sad when all the presents have gone from underneath.
eyeballkerry I don't believe in superstition I just like to it the way I was brought up I can't even put presents under my tree as my 2 furbabys would open them lol I was wrapping my grandkids presents up and molly my youngest dog who is 6 was opening them they get so excited when they see presents probably because I always wrap there birthday and Christmas presents up hope you had a lovely time all the best for 2024
