Ask a Question

Would you pay for a tour of Balmoral or Buckingham Palace?

Balmoral will cost you £100 and Buckingham Palace £50.

I’d like to see what it’s like inside and would go if some of my friends from abroad wanted to see it. In general though i’d give it a miss at that price

Buckingham Palace has been open for some time. I had a lovely day out there a few years ago and would go again but not at those prices. I think the Americans will pay those prices, rip off Britain.

Went on a tour of Buck Palace a few years back , when they were opening it throughout the summer, it was ok but just like any other historic house really, obviously you only got to see part of it and not allowed to touch anything, went in via a side entrance through Airport style security and exited through the gardens where they ripped you off for Coffee (in a paper cup) and cakes at inflated prices, also a gift shop tent where most of the items were Made in China,

Mango4 Made in China? I don't believe it. Couldn't Buckingham Palace source some British manufacturers to produce high quality goods?

I’m not bothered. I’ve seen it from the outside and on the tv. One of my aunts and uncles got invited to a garden party once when they were giving some recognition to people doing something good for the community. In their case it was St John’s ambulance service. I don’t think they went inside though. It’s just the Royals’ office really, none live in it.

JLouM I watch it free on Channel 5. The Royal Palaces the history of them all, behind the scenes, the royal family past and present.

They don't do themselves any favours do they? Charging that amount is ludicrous so once again they are making it available for the rich only, probably to keep the riff raff out!

Lynibis Thats exactly what it is. Rather than say we dont want poor people they just have a high bar of entry with the price. WHy are they doing it? To fund Andrews debauchery?

PaxAmerica I know it is very slightly off subject but I have always believed that British born citizens should have the right to visit and explore their own history and heritage at a reduced cost. Most are out of the reach of many for whom the cost for 2 adults and 2 kids is prohibitive. Tourists on the other hand must be well heeled to visit London (especially) in the first place.

PaxAmerica This has nothing to do with (Prince) Andrew. King Charles had already demoted him years ago.

SO we have to pay exorbitant fee to see the buildings that we pay for? Seems a slap in the face. I dont mind if we cant view them but to expect us to pay to see them seems a bad idea.

Dunno maybe. Only done a few touristy things in London the last few times I've been. Used to go for gigs but taken the kids. If they wanted to go I'd do it

No. We pay the royal family enough through taxes, so why should we pay AGAIN to go and see inside it? As British citizens we should get a dispensation to see it for free (if we want to see it at all).

I have paid in the past to tour Buckingham Palace, I can't remember how much I paid but it was a great day out and it's not much more than similar places, Blenheim Palace is £38

Not at them prices I wouldn’t. Where ever I go I also like to spend at least as possible so always on the look out for places that are free to visit.

I think a tour of Buckingham Palace would infuriate me and I would find myself heading straight for Princess Anne's drinks cabinet. With so many homeless and suffering from the cost of living crisis l cannot think of a bigger waste of time and money.

It wouldn't interest me in the slightest to see either of them, even if it was free admission.
