Town Centres/High Streets
Other
I know they are in decline because of internet shopping, parking and business rates but crikey I still try to shop with what’s left. I just can’t believe how much it now stinks of weedy stuff. I find it disgusting. Smoking was bad enough and Vaping is slightly better but still don’t like it. It’s everywhere now, even on the beaches so I can’t enjoy that either. No wonder people resort to getting things delivered to their door. Can’t enjoy going out any more. Just venting my frustration. Now a recluse.
When you consider that cigs were banned for health reasons and because they were smelly and yet vaping is exactly the same, to maybe a slightly lesser degree.
I don't see that in my high street but it probably will do at some point. In the whole town centre there may be a couple of homeless people and maybe one busker but its not too bad except for all the empty shops of course. The bottom of the town centre has mostly empty shops the middle and top have a few empty.
BonzoBanana You are lucky then. I don’t think it’s necessarily the homeless. These are just usually foreign looking men or just ordinary people walking around. They stink of it it’s so strong.
Yep..spliff stink everywhere you go.People just can't cope with sobriety or not being stoned these days it seems.
It's very bad it seems so many people do smoke weed out on the streets everywhere now days I've even seen police officers talking to people while they are smoking it and then they' just walk off no wonder there's so many people who are out of work they are all of there heads on drugs and stabbing eachother the way its going be the end of the high street soon
jdible Police don’t care, it’s become acceptable. I just have very sensitive nose and chest and it really makes me feel unwell. I definitely don’t get any ‘high’ from it but it’s so strong. Where they find the money for it and then probably cry they can’t feed themselves. Just cynical.
jdible Might want to start with alcohol first as more people off their heads on drugs and stabbing each other with alcohol than weed.
Ours is empty. Our local council has made a think to get shop landlords to fill them. But no one wants to rent cos of rental prices. I only go into town centre like once or twice a year. I hate it. Even before Internet shopping was like it is I tried to avoid it
Well, more people are starting to realize that their cities are in a decline and under a Starmer/Sunak government things will get even worse than they already are.
There's a high street I live near to, and recently they removed a bench which junkies would spend all day sat... Removing or banning something won't fix it until they get to the core of the problem itself.
Anyway, I'll leave this video here filmed in Manchester which is pretty bizarre towards the end. Some guy walks up to the masked guy, masked guy throws a liquid (coffee) at him, and then the masked guy falls. There is no valid reason he had to do that and it doesn't fall under self-defense whatsoever either.

You have to have a joint to be able to enjoy the high street these days. The high street is dying nearly dead. I suppose people being out drunk and stinking of booze is acceptable.
SilverSurfer I think they all stink whatever they use. It makes it impossible for me to enjoy going into town any more.
I agree it is a terrible smell, one I don't want my children inhaling. We've had it recently at a theme park, beach, high street, and even at a local fishing lake. There's no escape it seems
vixe80 Yep I know. It’s horrible isn’t it? Yeah not good for children. Think my neighbour has started smoking it in his garden. Definitely been getting whiffs of it while sitting in my own garden. There is no escape it seems. I might just have to fight back with strong perfume when I smell it.
Consumers who go to the town centres and high streets, in other words they shop in physical stores are just as likely to use cash as a credit or debit card.
When cards are used the shops or online stores pay a fee to the banks - Ka-Ching, the banks profit from us.
Compare this to a scenario where there are 'no' physical shops and hey ho there is no use of cash and only use of cards which make money for the banks.
The price of running a physical stores, the hike in rent, tax, stock etc etc and the increasing rise of card useage...............hmm; I think this has a lot to do with the lack of decent stores in town centres and shops in general.
EmmaWright762 Yep and that’s the general modern consumer trend. They have done this. I think there should be a place for both as I actually like to see and feel my goods in real life before deciding on a purchase. Yes I also like to use cash sometimes as well as card. I am just feeling ‘forced’ on the internet. Same with banks closures. ‘Forced’ to use internet but not my choice. I don’t mind the internet but would prefer choice.
I was asleep yesterday and there were two instances I was awoken, first was some junkie screaming of excitement or something. Second, a guy kept saying he lost his hat.. at 4am and he had a wife/gf whatever with him that he asked her where it was (probably drunk).
This is just ridiculous so I closed the window to reduce the noise. No wonder Farage is gaining support since the other parties won't do anything about it.
We have a few empty shops in our town ,but less more recently. Only one I can think of is a huge shop which used to be wilko. We also have a shopping centre which has no empty shops, plus department stores. You’ll always get the odd low life / gas addict etc.
Our town centre has declined massively, loads of addicts begging, someone put a video on Facebook this week and they were smoking crack in the middle of town
