As a preferred tea drinker i am curious about the latest trend, bubble tea
I haven't tried it yet , it sounds a bit strange
But its popularity is growing around the world apparently and even here in the UK
It makes a comparison to tapioca pudding, ref the balls in the tea, which i must have been one of the few kids to have liked at school dinners
Has anyone here tried it and can say liked it ?
Nope. Heard of it bug no idea what it actually is. Just sounds like a drink with a fancy name slapped on it so people can charge the earth for it
Yes, I really like them. Can buy some on home bargains and they are really nice. Think we have a bubble tea shop in our town and going to venture in at the weekend to get one!
I've heard of it and have a rough idea of what it is but the idea doesn't really appeal to me. I like iced tea but bubble tea isn't something I want to rush out and buy.
I tried it in Bulgaria as it was a scorching day and it was the only cold drink concession I could find.
I think mine was Mango & Pineapple, It was nice enough although it's odd having a straw that's as thick as a chimney to allow the bubbles to be sucked up.

I'm intrigued with this too, we have a Bubble tea shop in town but it probably won't last long as always empty. I am a tea drinker but not sure i'd want to try this, just looked up a recipe out of interest and it sounds an interesting combination though. www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/bubble-tea
I haven't had one but my daughter's did at the weekend, expensive in my opinion, it was £1 just to put bubbles in the drink, cost for 1 was £6.75 
martinlufc5637 Wow, unbelievable M, i would never pay that, i think i will try making my own from H's recipe link , it would be cheaper to go to taiwan to try one LOL
telmel I wouldn't have paid that either, I wasn't there, it's the latest trend for kids apparently so their mum took them for one
martinlufc5637 Its ok for a try i suppose M , trendy things are always expensive, i remember those energy drinks a while back selling for ridiculous prices, at least this is fairly healthy being tea based
My son is really in to them. Often gets them from a bubble tea shop in Newcastle. Iv tried one & it was OK, I wouldn't rush to get one.
Glitterandgold I think they appeal more to the younger generation G , but i wouldn't mind one now and again if they were priced right
Do you blow in it with a straw or what? I am curious but think I'll stick with my coffee cup.
telmel I hate tapioca .It reminds me of school slop served up like it was to Oliver in the poor house.It's so like frog spawn.
MelissaLee1 I must be the odd one out M, i used to love tapioca and semolina pudding,at school , i blame my nan, she used to give me milk puddings all the time when i stayed with her
I remember first trying bubble tea in 2002 in Singapore. The tapioca bubbles at the bottom were a big shock to us. I drank a lot in Japan when i went last year and have it when out with my gf as she is a fan.
Personally i do like it but think it’s a bit too much to pay for a drink
This isn't exactly a new trend as it's been around for a good few years now. I remember a few cafe's that opened up at my local highstreet that didn't stay around for long. Didn't try it as considered it yet another fad. I prefer my pg tips, milk with two sugars 
really enjoyed the ones I have tried, but not sure I can justify the prices that were paid! Found a nice rose flavoured bubble milk drink in the Polish section in Asda recently and loved it and wasnt too expensive - - not seen it since!
Once. That was enough. I think my child was trying to poison me. Far too sweet, like drinking syrup, but even that was better than having BITS in it
you can get it in loads of different flavours.
My 16yr old neighbour is always telling me bout them cos there’s shop in our town that actually makes them to your order. It sounded weird but he got a strawberry and watermelon 1 made for me and brought it back for me to try. I must admit I was bit daunted by it but it was lovely. Sucking up those bubbles through the straw and them popping in your mouth was strange at 1st but I loved it and have to go to town on Fri so will definitely be stopping off there to see what else they have
