Ask a Question
So it’s New Year’s Eve everything expensive so you stay in
What do you think of the tv over this holiday period Xmas to new year , repeats old films do you like ? Or are you wondering what you pay your tv licence for
I enjoyed Mog's Christmas and Tabby Mctat on Christmas evening.I'm not really a great one for TV.I prefer books but enough to satisfy me overall. Enjoyed 13 and Bump on I Player and watched Pale Horse on ITV catch up. I do wish the TV licence wasn't a thing though.
MelissaLee1 I liked pale horse I just was not disappointed with what was on for the £150+ tv licence
There's been lots of sport on, so I've been fine.
As for the TV license, it should be abolished along with the BBC
To be honest when it’s just me watching tv I turn to Netflix or watch some old dramas Ive recorded.
There has been one or 2 good things on but the tv has been a bit rubbish this year. We watched a few things we had recorded previously in the week. We won't be staying up tonight. Well I say that but given our son is still asleep I think he might be up late!
It's been the same for years, never anything on or just repeated, I remember when we'd buy the TV times to see was going to be on, we haven't bothered for ages
martinlufc5637 I agree with you, but all the newspapers do free listings up to 2 weeks before Christmas and the New Year. I use the catch up on the various TV channels (no Amazon, Netflix or Sky) free.
Think it's been rubbish for years haven't watched anything on the normal channels just sky movies and only fools and horses
I don't watch tv but watch dvd's, of which we have a great many, and enjoy re-watching them.
I'm sure I posted this before Christmas but this is what it is every year, isn't it?!
TV is always a disappointment, especially this time of year! Definitely don't see the point of a TV licence
We've been very ill, so only been able to be sat in front of the TV.
We've mainly been watching 'Castle' and 'According to Jim' both on Disney+
I watched a couple of Christmas specials: Blankety Blank, The Masked Singer and Not Going Out.
To end the year the 'Big Fat Quiz of the Year'
Casualty was back last night though for those interested.
Yul huge nothing great on. Only mogs xmas. Been watching shorthand Street on freevee not remotely xmasy
TV disappointing all year round..totally unacceptable especially for people on their own.
Although I don't have a TV license myself I have seen a bit of Christmas TV at my mother's house who is close to me. Nowadays I mainly seek out the stuff that would interest me which is mainly science fiction and watch that rather than just rely on the old style broadcasting channels. TV seemed more entertaining in the past but I don't think it really was I just think nowadays I'm more fussy what I watch. In the past I would sit down and enjoy the Great Escape but nowadays that would be a real chore to sit through that.
Whether Its Christmas Or not TV has been rubbish for many years as there Is never something to watch. TV was good back In the day. As for the TV Licence It Is getting cancelled this year when it runs out. Not going to pay for the garbage they show.
jam45 The amount of people stopping their TV license is huge. Last year it was 337,000 or 437,000 homes. I'm sure there are some that have gone back to having a TV license but its extremely rare.
I feel absolutely fantastic not having a TV license, I feel my mental health has improved which I know is a strange statement but not having a TV license means I don't have access to any live TV channels which means no live news except radio and web pages. I think watching the news can be quite negative to your mood. I never liked the BBC news either often feeling it was very inaccurate and biased.
The BBC are now in a funding crisis especially as they have a large pension deficit which the TV license pays for. The increase in the TV license may not bring in anymore money as so many are ditching their TV license.
It’s a disappointment most of the year, not been much on at all over the festive period. We stick to the streaming sites much better than trying to find anything on TV
I watch some freeview channels. I wasn’t into any of the films this year. I’ve either already seen them or nothing to interest me.
TV has been like this for a long time so many repeats but last night I watched Mr Bates vs The post office which was great viewing and coming soon is Finders Keepers which I am going to give a go.
eyeballkerry yes I watched it too, it's the only thing I've been looking forward to on the TV, can't wait for tonights, i love true story stuff
Aenurse1 I'm doing it one episode at a time, getting more and more outraged each night, final episode tomorrow,
slightfoot I am doing the same although my husband wanted to binge. It is such a sad sorry affair and how unbelievable that the post office covered up so much. It is not dissimilar to how the BBC covered up Jimmy Savile. So many lives ruined in both cases.
TV has been particularly rubbish this year, I watched the post office scandal last night, that's about the only decent new thing I've seen
The TV has been rubbish for a few years at Christmas time I tend to just watch Netflix or amazon prime all the time instead of normal tv as I don't watch soap's or reality shows I prefer documentaries or films
I was just saying this to someone earlier today. It didn’t seem like there was much special on and what was on felt a bit repetitive
