Two Americans Electrocuted While Using a Jacuzzi on Holiday

Ask a Question

In all my years i have never heard of this happening before

In fact i was only using one myself a few months ago at hotel health spa

One person died and his wife was severely injured in a Mexican Resort using a jacuzzi

How this could happen is beyond belief !

It makes me think twice about using one, does it put you off too ?

When something is referred to as 'Unbelievable', it usually is. This sounds more like foul play or someone playing a practical joke gone wrong. I'm sure they will be looking at a manslaughter case or at the very least negligance by the resort.

EmmaWright762 I would say you are correct E, manslaughter at the least, possibly due to poor maintenance

We have a hot tub in our garden which we absolutely love especially in the winter. Fun fact :

All Jacuzzis are hot tubs, but not all hot tubs are Jacuzzis. This is because Jacuzzi is a brand name same with Hoover. All Hoovers are vacuum cleaners but not all vacuum cleaners are Hoovers.

eyeballkerry Yes E, we sometimes make the mistake of calling something by its brand name , like hoover instead of saying vacuum , i used to do this, and as you say the same with jacuzzis, but it just goes to show we need to be so careful when mixing water and electric , even vacuums that suck up water or clean carpets are at risk of malfunctioning in the same way

telmelIt just proves when this happens how good the brand is. I’m trying to think of others but got a blank at the moment.

I have never been in one and doubt I will now! My son had one but got rid due to the high cost of energy to use it. His energy company refused to believe his consumption had gone down by that much and refused to pay him the £500 they owed him. He battled hard but as always the big companies always win!

Lynibis Yes that's one thing you have to think about now L , the cost of running appliances

You are in effect heating up a large area of water and keeping it at a constant temperature , then using the pump to activate water movement , that's besides the cost of filling and maintaining it with chemicals , so not as cheap as they used to be to use
