My Va Va Vroom Has Totally Gone. (Update)
Other
Just lately I can't seem to find the will or energy to do much except watch tv, read, or be on here! Don't worry this is not a pity party and I know the fault lies entirely with me but I just can't seem to be bothered to do any of the myriad jobs I need to do.
I have bought paint to decorate but can't get started, need to fix a gutter down pipe that gushes water down wall when it rains, keep up with the garden and so much more. The house is clean and tidy thank goodness but I need some motivational tips. The state of the country doesn't help as everything seems so bloody pointless with no end in sight.
Ive been like that for a while had loads of test done because the doctors wanted them and it turns out I was low on vitamin d lol helped abit but I'm like you can't be arsed doing anything I do think the weather doesn't help
Leannexxx I do take vitamin D nearly every day, when I remember. But I don't suppose it helps having D2 and underactive thyroid. Again it is down to me to keep my D2 under control but the more tired and lethargic you feel the more you eat and the less you exercise. Again, I know it is entirely down to me to do something about it but I just keep saying tomorrow, tomorrow.........
Leannexxx she did phone but tbh neither of us contributes to the life of the other. It was very one sided. I have 4 close friends but for various reasons I couldn't go on hols with them, but they all come here for meals at various times. My sons are my treasures and we get together about once a month though we talk weekly and text daily on phone.
It’s difficult getting started even when you know things need doing. I’m impressed that you can mend your guttering.
Pjran it's only where the down pipe top half keeps popping out of bottom half so the water pours everywhere except down the drain. There is obviously not enough overlap so I don't know how to permanently seal it as winding something around I don't think will do it. I will ask my son when he is back from holiday.
I don’t think the weather is helping at the moment either. Maybe if one of your sons can get you started with the decorating you’ll want to finish it? Hope you are ok anyway
emmabeckz thank you Emma that's lovely of you, I am physically fine, just a bit weary. My sons do offer but I hate to burden them as they work so hard and have little quality time with their families. I will ask as a last resort but I am hoping I will decorate during the autumn to fill the cooler days.
I know that feeling L
It is surprising how down you can feel when you have a number of jobs to do and you haven't got the energy to tackle them
But just having those jobs pending can actually zap your energy more
When i get a job done it gives me a sense of satisfaction and i want to get on with the next
Whereas if you don't start the first , it can leave you feeling depressed and more lethargic
Take the guttering, its quite easy to fix , the gorilla tape is a good option as P suggested , you can also buy waterproof sealers to hold the pipe together
Just go to a local DIY store and ask their advice, or there is always you tube
If something is really getting you down and you are not sure how to repair it it might be worth biting the bullet and getting a local handyman , or woman, in to fix it for you
Damn, see how political correctness has crept into the conversation
I feel like that sometimes too. There are a million things that need done and I just can't be bothered doing any of them. I try to do the small manageable jobs first and then I usually get the motivation to do the other ones.
Weather doesn't help, another non existent summer, I had loads of plans for this summer, apart from going on holiday, I haven't done anything else yet
martinlufc5637 actually I am one of those strange people who can't bear the heat. I feel we've had lots of hot days and I have hidden indoors with windows and curtains shut, so yep you're right weather has certainly got me down lol.
Lynibis you'd be no good in Turkey then, it was 48C through the day and 39c in the evening /night 2 weeks ago, our room when the Aircon wasn't on was 120 degrees lol
martinlufc5637 tell me about it...my son got married in Turkey in 42° I really don't know how I got through the day. They love the heat and always go somewhere hot like Turkey, Cyprus or Mexico.
Even as a child I would be under an umbrella on a sunny day. I lived in Oz for a couple of years as a teen and was nicknamed Casper.
Oh I’ve been feeling like this. Completely run down and don’t feel like doing anything or just overwhelmed with everything that needs doing. There’s a thing I’ve read though that says if you can’t do all the washing-up - do a dish or two. A little bit is better than nothing at all. So that’s what I do. Probably more like half the amount though not just two. Whatever I can manage.
I am sort of glad I am not the only one but I feel for you too. My downstairs and upstairs bathroom is done as often as it needs and I am lucky to bung everything in a dishwasher but then I've had enough lol.
As for decorating I have decided to start with the skirting boards as they are brown wood and I want white. I know it should be top to bottom but I need to do the knee bit first as I know they will hurt after so if I get exhausted doing walls I might be tempted to leave them! I will divide the room mentally and do a section each day, and with all the encouragement from you lovely LD friends hopefully I can report back as I go
After posting this I had a call from doc (so knew it was bad news) telling me my level for D2 is sky high so have to up my medication. Too ashamed to tell you how high. However, I have lowered it before and will do it again. I have bought the gorilla tape and have spent morning gardening. Am now going to sit with a cuppa and write a list of every job big and small and make sure I do at least one per day. Thank you all for your support.
I've no idea where my inner push comes from but me personally would be more stressed if l didn't get on with all my tasks, saying that l feel the need (no idea why) to always be doing something, l love a before and after so will push myself no matter what, some days I'm knackered but I cannot sit still..if you were local l would be helping you with all your tasks if you wanted.
Pinkspirit ah bless you. I must admit I would love to be like you but I guess now in my early 70s and with D2 I can't expect to feel as energetic as I once did. But I make sure I get housework done before I get lazyitis
