Unfortunately it seems that a lot of teenagers are using these vapes, I saw my mates daughter who is 13 year old using one last week as she was walking down the street, I haven't said anything to him yet, undecided what to do...

Same I found out a couple of years ago and like you he was 18. He still vapes I really was disappointed he started as he knew my feelings regarding smoking and vaping. But at the end of the day he is an adult and has the right to make these choices. I do worry what the implications of vaping will do over time. But he does tell me he will finish one day. Hopefully he will.

We all want the best for our kids and to protect them no matter their age. You are not wrong to be mad, upset, disappointed and so forth, I would be too and I was when both my sons began smoking over 30 years ago. They are both non smokers now thank goodness.

If he knows you go in his room for housekeeping then he will have no right to be angry at you finding his stash, remember that if it comes to a row and he accuses you of snooping. Secondly you are within your rights to forbid it under your roof, although he probably doesn't vape in the home or you would have smelled it by now.

There was a teenage girl who nearly died recently directly because of vaping, she was taken to hospital at death's door and it turned out she had to have part of her lung removed, she was warning others not to vape. It was on either GMB or This Morning maybe you could look it up and send him an email with the link attached (or some other form of getting it to him), and add a loving note telling him how much you love him and cannot bear to think of him putting his health at risk. Play on his conscience and ask him if he loves you as much as you love him would he please not do it as it is breaking your heart, especially as he previously had asthma.

Then you just have to hope he sees sense. Personally I don't understand teens. They want to stand out and be individual but then follow their peers like Lemmings. I took pride in being different when young and would not succumb to smoking, I would just say no thanks I don't want to get cancer and no one ever spurned me because of it. Tell him to stop being a Lemming.

MelanieHunt well they do say ignorance is bliss but then again it can be more of a shock to find out something has been kept from you.

You could tell him they are dangerous and could explode and cause a fire, so you dont want him keeping or using them in his room

I know it wont stop him but it might make him think about the harm they do not just through inhaling

There are a few articles about this, here's just one statement i found on google about them self igniting, it is in the US but over 2,000 incidents is a lot !

How rare is it for a vape to explode?

Vape explosions are rare, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, but they do happen. According to one study, from 2015 through 2017, there were 2,035 ER visits for e-cigarette explosions and burn injuries.Jan 2, 2024

telmel Plus, there is the potential risk it can cause cancer, even if it is low (for now).

Here's a webpage I like to see if it's still active, and yes it is.

Go from one addiction to another. 😐 This is enabling people so it ultimately does more harm than good as they do not give it up.

The previous government did nothing to help/remove these people from the streets (they get into loud hostile arguments and try to rob people using knives) and the new govt looks as though it'll do the same.. nothing.

He's 18 he's gonna do what he wants sorry to say the only thing you can do is talk to him about them and the damage they can do because some people use them like they are going out of fashion

I’m 34 and my mum is disappointed that i vape 🤣 i’m not a parent but can see how it would be really hard cause most parents only want what’s best for their children.

From my POV though at 18 i would do what i want to either openly or in secret so i think you’re better off just turning a blind eye or addressing it and just saying that he is an adult and can do what he wants.

jms19 I guarantee she is more than disappointed. They say it's not addictive but it must be if you can't stop for your mum.

Lynibis well is he doing anything wrong? That’s up for debate but in most cases everyone did a few things as a teen/young adult, that their parents probably wouldn’t be happy about. It’s part of growing up isnt it

Further to my last comment. As you know I was a passenger assistant for kids in care for a few years. One time we dropped a girl at the contact centre to see her mum as it was her 12th birthday. Taking her home I chatted and asked what mum had got her for her birthday, the answer shook me to the core. A vape and several flavoured refills!!!

Disappointing I am sure but if anyone told me at 18 what I could or couldn't do ,like most teenagers I would do the exact opposite. Brow beating him will have the very opposite effect I am sure. There is one thing though. It's your house so your rules. I don't smoke but I allow people to smoke in my house no prob..no ganga though lol. I would rather find vapes than **** mags.

Melaniehunt not funny, but at 18, he should be making and changing his own bed sheets. My youngest is 8, and he does

His own bed

He could be doing worse things. He's also an adult making his own decisions
