Do I Have a Vitamin Deficiency?

Ask a Question

Looking for some advice please. The past year or so I've been diagnosed with numerous chest, throat and sinus infections. I've had laryngitis and have regularly lost my voice. I've been talking to friends about how this has been getting me down and one of them thinks I may have a vitamin deficiency. Has anyone else experienced these sort of symptoms and had their vitamin levels checked? Any advice at all will be highly appreciated 🙏

You don't need to have vitamin levels checked as you know whether or not you are eating enough fruit veg etc with enough vitamin C or D. If not take supplements. Other more serious things like iron deficiency should, of course, be looked into. The things you mention are infections and if vitamin supplements don't help them it could be your immune system.

I don't think people should take medical advice from strangers but I haven't said anything that could be detrimental to your health

I also don't agree with Dr. Google unless you check on a proper nhs advice site.

If you've had to go to the doctors regularly for these for say antibiotics to help clear them, then I would have thought your doctor may have done blood tests to rule this out? My doctors wouldn't stop doing blood tests, until I went private, as no outcome. It turned out that I have adulthood asthma, after 2 years of suffering and numerous doctors appointments and even A&E visits, of which I kept getting bloods taken, given antibiotics as a precaution or just sent home feeling like I had wasted their time, I got a diagnoses.

Please book an appointment and ask to get your bloods looked into. It is very common for many people to be low in vitamin D which can affect you massively, especially if you are tired too.

Multivitamins some say they aren't as affective, as your body has to absorb lots of vitamins and they are usually absorbed differently, do they aren't always affective. Others say try and get a varied diet and take multivitamins, but you can take too much of some which can be as dangerous. So please at least talk to your pharmacist, we also don't know your medical background and many of us aren't medically trained, so worth talking to a pharmacist/request bloods and I sincerely hope you feel better soon, best of luck!

I've got chronic laryngitis I'm use to it now and as far as I know no vitamins can help with that but if you worried go to your gp and ask them they will probably take bloods to see if your are lacking something

Regular illness is a sign that something is out of balance. I'm not a medical doctor but it sounds like you may be experiencing issues with your immune system. I suggest getting advice from your GP or Pharmacist and ask to be checked for any deficiencies (I have had my vitamin levels checked). It's also helpful to take a look at your lifestyle as a whole and what you're contributing towards staying as healthy as possible (like, good nutrition and regular activity, no smoking etc.). Take care 😃

Probably a bit obvious S but have you had a covid test recently ?

Some of the symptoms you mentioned have been associated with covid

If you have seen a doctor i expect they would have checked this first but you never know

I had similar symptoms especially the laryngitis, it ended up I had Helicobactor, I needed a very strong antibiotic, my symptoms have never returned. Hopefully you get it resolved soon.
