Waitrose and Sainsbury's issue 'do not eat' warning as food item may contain glass
Waitrose and Sainsbury's are recalling jars of Patak's Aubergine Pickle because they might contain glass.
AB World Foods, the company that makes the pickles, says it could be dangerous to eat. The product has only been sold in Waitrose and Sainsbury's stores.
If you've bought one of these jars, don't eat it. Take it back to the shop where you bought it and they'll give you your money back.

Queenofdeals786 I am fortunate that I prefer the lime pickle which I often wrap in lettuce leaves as a side dish. I will have to see if Ashoka do a lime pickle.

Wow you would think in this day and age there would be far better precautions put into place for things like this. How does glass even get into it in first place? its beyond compression.

momhobnob666 There have been several scares of foreign items in foods lately but I think glass is one of the worst I have come across.
Powdered glass! Great way to do someone in very slowly and painfully.Shred yer insides to bits.Horrendous!

This kind of product recall just makes me weary of ever trying any product in their range...
Consumer It is off putting as I remember the Lloyd Grossman sauces range having more than one recall 
Sounds revolting anyway not something I would buy although have bought Patak's sauces in the past when on offer but generally they are quite expensive like many branded goods so don't bother with them preferring to buy the shop's own brand sauces.
BonzoBanana The supermarket own brand are always cheaper and what are we paying the extra for? Glass!
tumblespots I bought a Mumbai curry sauce packet in Farmfoods for 49p and despite being powder based it reminded me so much of a Patak's curry sauce I tried, very similar taste and very hot. Generally powder based food is not great but spices are originally powder anyway and sauces in jars often add low grade oil and emulsifiers to keep the oil and water together and not separate so I feel you can make a case for powder curry sauces or of course just mixing the right spices together yourself for a curry.
BonzoBanana I agree, I have just bought a set of spices but have yet to create a curry from it - watch this space!
