Ask a Question
I have 2 conifer trees in my garden and they have went mostly brown does anyone know if they will go back green this is the first year they have did that and what are the best small trees as I have a small garden I already have a twisted Hazel tree and a hydrangea

kate1310 not too up on my plants but from experience once conifers go brown it's not easy to get them back
I have a magnolia in the corner in my fairy garden. I bought it cheap about 7/8 years ago as it was half dead. It is not very big but I do prune it most years to keep it low and small, though I read they don't like too much pruning. But it is flourishing and I love the beautiful but brief period of blossoms.
Lynibis that is absolutely stunning I love wee fairy gardens I think I might have to take my conifers out the ground do you know anything about them mine have went brown I will look up magnolias thats beautiful and small just what I need I don't have much of a garden thanks for your comment and your lovely photo
kate1310 Sorry I can't help as I am not very good at gardening, just bumble along really. Have you googled what turns conifers brown? I would have said not enough water but with all the rain we had recently it can't be that as I believe they are quite hardy. Have any noxious substances been near them or animals peeing up against them?
Lynibis yes I googled it said it could be lack of water insects or diseases are responsible for some cases ,growing conditions but we have loads of rain I have to girl dogs so don't pee on them lol I loved them to and were getting a good hight so people couldn't see into my garden didnt want anything to tall
If you look up small/dwarf trees you'll get quite a few ideas. You can get some lovely small blossom trees which are stunning.
MelissaLee1 omg that is absolutely stunning I would love my garden to look like that thanks for your comment
Spruce or any fir tree from small and then limit the amount of fertiliser so it grows gradually should not se the tree growing too fast and they damn beautiful as the do grow. Also the roots dont travel very far from the tree so even in a limitd space its not going to casue foundation issues if kept a short distance atleast from the buildings.
PaxAmerica thank you so much for commenting and your advice are fir trees just like conifer trees do you know about trees will I have to cut my wee trees down because they have went brown or do you think they will come back green I have been putting fertiliser on them gutted I loved them lol
We have a magnolia which I bought as it was advertised as a dwarf version but it’s grown about 8 foot high!
We have an acer too which is in a pot so that has kept it small.
Another tree we really liked but sadly died was a Forest Pansy. Lovely shaped leaves and it flowered too.
Omg has it thats would be ok if you had the garden and room for it do you think it's ok to keep them in plant pots I havnt a clue about gardening I just plant flowers and hope for the best lol I just looked up a forest pansy they look beautiful am thinking of a Japanese acer they look stunning beautiful colour rather than just green need a couple of small ones thanks for commenting
