What's Going on in Leeds?
In the News
Riots in Leeds over night. Reports don't know what caused it. Sounds scary. A bus was set on fire.
Not the first time and certainly won't be the last. Overheated all out fights Leeds Style.
Jerseydrew I watch the news and especially notice social aspects as l studied it at Uni some years ago. I recall seeing problems such as this in Leeds several times
Harehills is a shocking place. My partner lives there. Buses now refuse to go through Harehills. The police car apparently was turned over. Buses set alight. Not actually sure why it started tbh
ChelsieLou90 it was because social services tried to remove a child from a family, hare hills is a shocking place
ChelsieLou90 hope your partner is ok and not affected by it. martinlufc5637 is that what caused it. Social services must have thought there was a real reason to remove a child from a family home
It will kick off in other parts of the UK. For too many years governments let anyone just come and live here sadly the UK is finished we don't have any control there's to many people born here who's jobless homeless and on council waiting list for years people who come from overseas get treated like VIPs they put up in hotels till they are found housing given benefits some find cash in hand jobs on the side our government gives 10k to each person from overseas to help them settle in and buy things funny alot of them rush out to buy cars etc plus it puts teachers back as the kids can't talk English and time is taken up helping them holding our kids back in leaning and then we have the NHS alot of them don't follow our laws and it becomes lawless some hate the English people and police and government and for years now the uk government been warned it will kick off one day on our streets and blood will flow on our streets socal services went in to remove the other kids to a place them in a place of safety after they though a baby out of a window the police turned up to help socal services and then it all kicked off the poor baby as passed away
So many different stories about the same thing and it's hard to know which is true and which is false.
jdible Gypsies have caused (and still do) a lot of trouble in Spain and Portugal, but when the police are called they get it under control as they know how dangerous it can get.
British cops used to be so fierce and respected, now they're unreliable.
This happened in Spain:
Gypsy families got into violent altercations, just one of the many times.
I tried maintaining "PC" while just posting as things are.
PhilipMarc the police have their hands tied, the slightest aggression towards those being aggressive, dare to even push someone or speak offensively while they f and blind at the police, not to mention their physical and mental health. They find themselves disciplined or worse. We have brought it on ourselves with all the woke rubbish and sympathy for criminals.
Lynibis yeah i think that a harder approach needs to be used for criminals but the problem is we have also been let down police a lot.
It’s such a difficult one because there are cases where the police have had to do things that maybe would be frowned upon but necessary, however at the same time there are loads of cases where police have acted unlawfully and for no reason other than they can cause they have power.
I'm from Leeds originally not living there now so I wasn't surprised. Harehills is a really bad place. It use to be the case I don't know if it still is that if your white you couldn't walk around by yourself you had to have a black person with you.
Gypsy people got their kids taken away and started rioting from what I heard, while the police looked like they did nothing about it.
For genetics sake, Gypsies are descendants of Indians, they're not Romanians. Romanians are Latin Europeans just like the Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Italian.
PhilipMarc it's awful that this was started because social services were doing their jobs and protecting those they are looking after.
My daughter has just moved back home from Leeds, she only passed through Harehills but she was really saddened when she saw the rioting...Daughter loved her time in Leeds..
I told her that Sheffield & other places had riots in 1981 too
janphoenix51 yes it's happened before and in every decade but it still is awful when it happens.
