Why You Should Eat Grapefruit after Drinking Tea, According to a Scientist

In the News

I thought i knew a lot about tea but it seems i am learning more every day

This is the same scientist that advised people to put a pinch of salt in their tea to take away the bitterness

Now they are saying if you eat a grapefruit after your cuppa you will make the effects of the caffeine last longer, keeping you more alert

Whereas if you eat vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli and Brussel sprouts you will get rid of the caffeine faster

Also if you use tea bags the effects and goodness of the tea disperse faster than using tea leaves

It does not mention coffee in the article , so i am not sure if the same applies

ACR

I really like grapefruit juice.

Although, grapefruit consumption can be problematic if you are using certain medicines - www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/medicines/does-grapefruit-affect-my-medicine/#Statins

In the late 1990s a number of 'hay-fever remedies containing the drug terfenadine' were removed from chemist shelves and made prescription-only medicines. One of the reasons for this was the way grapefruit juice interacted with the drug - www.independent.co.uk/news/hayfever-drug-taken-off-sale-1269259.html

Given the choice I drink grapefruit juice although getting the 'tropicana pink' around here is like trying to buy rocking horse sh*t!

I agree with ACR that grapefruit juice is well known for reacting with certain medications/tablets.

My first thought when I saw this chat topic was that the person coming up with these innovations certainly has a lot of time of their hands that could be put to better use?
