Why Are Food Prices Still Rising

I’ve heard when inflation drops it doesn’t mean prices go down. They just stop rising as fast. So they still go up but just not as quickly. But yes food is expensive right now. We shop around and look out for offers. Sometimes try alternatives if cheaper. If usual product on offer by a few of the product to store (mini bulk buy). That’s what we do.

Farmfoods are just as bad I use to get 3 bags of pasta for £4.50 they are now 3 for £7

Something needs to done about prices going up every week the price is going up no matter where you shop

It has just gotten ridiculous. I have a box in my fridge that I keep chocolate in for grandkids but recently it’s not as full or big a selection as every week the price is up 10p. I’ve started buying what’s on offer or if happen to be in the garage getting fuel and they’ve offers on multipacks I buy it. I only buy what’s on offer.

I have no idea why food prices are still going up, but have definitely noticed they are still increasing week on week and if they are not increasing they are still decreasing sizes on packs. Big problem is all the supermarkets are in it together and follow one another , there is no real competition between them anymore , even Lidl & Aldi are now on par with the other stores

Unfortunately inflation dropping doesn't mean that prices fall straight away, they just don't rise as fast. There are certain things that we just don't buy anymore. When I see orange sticker items that are 30% or 60% off I buy them and freeze them. Freezer is full of reduced bread and meat. We shop in Lidl and Aldi, I found that Asda had gotten too expensive.

Its crazy even the cheap shops arent cheap anymore.. I used to be devoted to Aldi but with the clubcard prices now it really doesnt make that much difference to shop at tesco and the quality is better!

prices are still going up although maybe not quite as fast as they were a year ago. Food prices do seem to have been hit by poor weather across Europe where much of our food comes from.

It is shocking that the price rises in food that continue on an almost daily basis. Part of it if definitely greed on behalf of the supermarkets!

Because they are capitalists succeeding in getting away with making as much money as possible whilst they can get away with it.

When prices are silly I just boycott them and go without.I'm not a fussy eater and there's invariably something else.Lamb is a rarity.I have it instead of an easter egg lol.Beans and bananas are still cheap Thank God.

I have my own theory about food prices. I expect most of us have some sort of card like nectar, Tesco club card etc. These prices are designed to draw us in and we think wow that's a great reduction. But why is there a need to have prices constantly changing. I believe those reductions are not for the shoppers benefit but their own. The lower price is what the items should sell for but when they go back up it is so the supermarkets can cash in.

Certain items I buy go up and down like a yoyo and I NEVER buy at the higher price as I refuse to play these games with them. It is time they just kept all items at a fair price and just throw in the occasional special offer, as it used to be before covid.

One of the items that I buy has gone back up and that's filtered milk but it tends to come back on my Nectar offers so will buy it them as full price is now £1.90.
