Why is Yawning so Infectious
Ask a Question
we all yawn if someone else does and even talking about it makes you yawn. are you yawning reading this? it really is the most infectious thing ever but no one knows what the purpose for yawning is?
The brain thinks there is a lack of oxygen in the air so makes you yawn to capture as much as possible, when it sees someone else yawn it goes in to panic mode and thinks if the other person is yawning they must know the oxygen is running out and makes you yawn.
I knew it was a reflex action when the brain needed more oxygen but not about the other person. So it's true then, yawning is catching!
Lynibis it's how I used to get really disappointed in pubs and clubs in my younger days, I would yawn to see if a hot guy was watching me in the hope they would yawn back, never worked
