What Will You Not Buy Second Hand?
Ask a Question
What is one thing you will never buy second hand?
For me, I couldn't ever wear second hand shoes. I'm fine with clothes but shoes just weird me out a bit.
Knickers, pants and trousers. I’m fine with tops, skirts, dresses and jackets. I’ve looked at shoes but never found anything suitable. There is one shop in town (heart foundation) that seems to have a good supply of shoes I would consider. Only that one though.
Lots of things but primarily anything where hygiene is of higher importance, like underwear.
I would never buy or be given a secondhand mattress. Always check sofas as you don’t know what is lurking inside.
I wouldn't buy underwear, sofas, old mattresses or anything electrical. I would buy electrical from say the BHF as you get a six month guarantee If anything goes wrong. The rest what I typed, never.
I don't mind clothes or shoes as long as I can chuck them in the wash (so usually trainers!) but I draw the line at underwear for sure!
Jerseydrew really lol I'm my local charity shop they sell underwear but because it's old stock from other shops all new in packs of 5 I've never got some myself but seen alot of people buy them
Leannexxx I just can't do it. I'm no snob but there's something about I cant. If it was all I could. Afford I would have to but atm nope no just no.
I'm with you I can't do second hand shoes no no , think of the sweaty feet that were once in them just wrong
I wouldn't buy second hand mattresses or underwear but have bought second hand shoes and trainers both online and in charity shops. It feels positive to me to buy second hand for the environment as well as the pocket and economy.
Underwear, shoes, mattresses, car seats for children. I am also a bit wary of furniture, it can have wood worm.
There's nothing I wouldn't normally buy, except underwear, everything gets a good wash or clean at home before using. However, I was surprised to find one local charity shop selling used ladies bras - but I guess if they were washed they'd be fine
Like most other people. Underwear and trainers/shoes . But like some people say some items are donated from shops and are therefore new so these I'd buy.
Dummies - I’ve seen used ones on Vinted etc. I know they can be sterilised but it’s just a no from me!
How about if someone had been served a meal and decided not to have it - would you take it or would you worry about whether they had sneezed on it before leaving?
I totally agree with you on shoes. I have been given second hand shoes that had never been worn but most shoes once worn mould to a persons foot shape.
I did buy in ear head phones second hand a few years back, I cleaned them with sanitizing wipes before using. I then read online about not buying second hand earbuds and decided to throw them away and get a new pair.
Underwear definitely. Other than that I would buy pretty much anything else but for them being given for free there getting very expensive sometimes more expensive than brand new items which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever when there second hand.
I wouldn't buy underwear, mattresses, electrical items or shoes 2nd hand. If someone has bought it and never used it and they are selling it on again then I would buy it.
