Zipzero App Changes - from 1% to 0.5% and Putting a Hold on New Users (update)

Other

Just got an email from them to say the changes that will happen soon - so if you’re not registered but you're interested, get in there quick before 22 April

if anyone has had issues cashing out, there are delays but they expect to pay out from next month

UPDATE: I would avoid this one - it was initially good, but not worth touching now

Downloaded this the other day but not used yet. How does it differ from other receipt apps then? They don't deal with percentages. Do you get a percentage of your spending back, rather than points per receipt or something?

MeestairChrees you get 1% of your receipt total, so if your receipt was for £100, you will get £1 on your account, much better than other apps. But that will change soon, as they are halving the cashback. And the cashback can only go towards your bills, so money off your council tax, or phone bill, etc

ptenn00 when 0.5% sounds better than other receipt apps, but that's a shame. Hadn't realised it went towards bills though, rather than a gift card like others.

ptenn00 Currently if you upload a £10 receipt at 1% back its actually 10p back not £1 (That would be a return of 10%)

SamGoodship oops sorry - major typo! thanks for pointing it out (I have corrected it now). I suspect that a lot of shopping receipts at the supermarkets are quite high these days

MeestairChrees I would prefer giftcards myself, but there's no harm in reducing bills, especially during these hard times

ptenn00 lol wishing it was 10% 😜 I’ve made that ‘typo’ myself a few times 😂

hspexy lol yes late nights, living in a time warp, taking it's toll on us all. Had an issue with the app late last night too, as it won't upload more than one photo - have you had that issue?

ptenn00 no, I haven’t. But sometimes the app is glitchy, so perhaps try it again later? or if you email them the receipt they can put it on manually

got the email too. Such a shame, but hopefully, they have said it's only temporary, although I doubt it. Saving that 0.5% makes a difference, so I am sure they will keep it that way

Yes I suspect that too. I always thought 1% was generous and perhaps not viable for the running of their business, especially as all the other similar apps give you points and take forever to build up

hspexy noticed the change when I uploaded yesterday - and they don't round up 😧 so we will be missing out on pennies! how I will miss the pennies!!

ptenn00 yes very upsetting. Fingers crossed it’s only temporary, and not a permanent change

Unfortunatelly I think they will keep it that way too 🥺 As no matter what most of us are going to use it regardless. Just so you know guys at the moment they have extremely long delays in pay out due to the pandemic. I’ve paid my last bill 26 days ago and is still pending 😫

Thanks for letting me know. Hopefully they pay out soon. The last email I got this week said they apologise for the delays, but their waiting for funds from investors, which will materialise in May. Fingers crossed it’s sorted sooner than later

I hope so too, although I guess it depends on what happens next. But on the bright side, I’ve noticed that you will get at least 1p per receipt

It’s definitely not worth bothering now. Ever since they had their first hiccup, they‘ve never been able to redeem themselves. Lots of people have left them and now left bad reviews. Definitely don’t bother

My opinion is that this app is a scam. They have been taking people's data for almost three years now and never paid a penny. I tried just after the app launch but soon realized they were trolling the users, making up terrible excuses for not paying, so I gave up. Reading the reviews and comments on their social media channels, I can see that it was the right decision.

To be fair, in my experience they did pay out initially. But I think they were perhaps too generous and eager with their initial business model and couldn’t sustain it…and most likely the initial people who started it sold it to others who only intended to harvest data without paying out. A lot of apps start off great and then they nosedive. Their current claim of paying out if you use their new model/rebate scheme is laughable
