Totally agree with you, our daughter loved books, we always read with her as a child. I used to read to her when she went into Afternoon Nursery for 30min & some of the other children would gather round & listen too, the Teachers didn't mind me doing this..
janphoenix51 it goes to show how much children want to be learning from story books. When I was in senior school we had to do a placement for “work experience “. I remember choosing a placement at a primary school . One afternoon a week the parents could volunteer to take part in a story club . Each volunteer had a group of 5 children and would read books to them . Afterwards the group would talk about the book. The children loved it and the way they chatted about the story they had been read was great. Their thoughts about the story were amazing. I don’t know if schools still do things like this but it was a great experience.
