Sky Q Accessibility Remote Free to Sky Customers
The Sky Q accessible remote control has all the features of the regular Sky Q remote control, but it's designed specifically for people with reduced dexterity, and for blind and partially sighted people. The Sky Q accessible remote has the following features:
Textured easy grip design.
Raised contour buttons with additional tactile points.
Larger and bolder button graphics.
High visibility buttons.
Sky Q accessible remote buttons explained
From the top right of the remote, the standby button followed by the Sky button in the middle and the input button top left
input - Select which source to display on your TV.
sky - Takes you to your recordings, and brings your Sky Q box out of standby.
standby - Press once to switch your box on/off. Press and hold to switch your TV on/off if your Sky Q remote controls your TV.
After the standby row from left to right are the Audio Description settings, subtitle settings, help info and search buttons
AD - Display Audio Description setting while watching TV.
subtitles - Display subtitles setting while watching TV.
? - While watching a show: Display Audio Description and subtitles settings. While in the Sky Q menus: Read help information about the page you’re currently on.
Search - Search for a specific show.
Around the middle of the remote working clockwise are the more info, channel up/down, volume up/down and mute buttons
vol +/- and Mute - Change the volume or mute your TV or speaker system.
i - Get more info on the show you're watching or a show in the TV Guide.
ch +/- - Change the channel up or down.
In the middle of the remote is the circular select button with the up, right, down and left navigation buttons
Navigation buttons - Navigate the menus.
Press right when watching a show to bring up the last viewed channel.
Pressing up whilst watching a recording, paused or rewound TV brings up the progress bar, then pressing the left or right navigation button will skip backwards or forwards through the show.
Time skipped depends on the length of the show or how long you’ve been watching the channel e.g. one hour shows skip in 15 minute blocks.
Select – will select option highlighted. When watching live TV this brings up the Mini Guide.
Below the select and arrow buttons from left to right are the dismiss, home and sidebar buttons
Dismiss - Return to live TV when in Sky Q menus, or if you've paused or rewound a live broadcast. Press to stop a recorded show or video, or to exit an app.
Home - Go to the Home screen.
Sidebar button - Open the Sidebar, from which you can launch apps such as Sky Sports News HQ.
In the lower middle of the remote from left to right are the rewind, play/pause and fast forward buttons with the record button below the play/pause
Ⓡ - Record the current show. If the show is part of a series, all future episodes and series will be scheduled to record. Press Ⓡ again if you want to only record that episode.
<< - Rewind recorded shows or live TV. Press repeatedly to increase speed.
Play/pause- Play or pause the show you're watching
>> - Fast forward recorded shows. Press repeatedly to increase speed.
At the bottom of the remote are the colour buttons, red, green, yellow and blue from left to right followed by the 1 to 0 number keys in numerical key format starting at 1 and ending at 0 on the bottom row
Coloured buttons - Go to interactive services whenever you see the option on screen.
⓪-⑨ - Type in channel numbers to go straight to the channel.
