Aldi has excitedly announced the return of a discontinued favorite, Elkes Sports Shortcake Biscuits, to its shelves. Available from 21st January, the biscuits, priced at just 79p for a 200g pack, are known for their buttery shortcake taste and sports-themed designs. Popular among children growing up in the 80s, these biscuits disappeared from shelves in 2022, leading fans to start a petition for their return.
The biscuits, once hard to find, had made a brief appearance in Farmfoods last December. Elkes, the manufacturer of these nostalgic biscuits, has a storied history, having been founded in 1908. It later became part of Fox’s Biscuits, which was acquired by Ferrero in 2020 for £246 million.
Keira Clarke at The Sun reported this development and noted the excitement among food lovers on social media, with several Facebook users expressing their joy and nostalgia at the biscuits' return.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, commented, "The return of Elkes Sports Shortcake Biscuits at Aldi is not just a win for nostalgia but also for savvy shoppers. It's a delightful example of how consumer voices can influence product lines, bringing back cherished memories at affordable prices."
