Aldi to Open 100 New Stores in UK. Is One Coming Near You?
Hello Deal Hunters,
Get ready to save even more on your grocery bills! Aldi, which has consistently been crowned the ‘cheapest supermarket’ by Which? magazine, has plans to expand its store footprint in the UK. Robert Harries at Wales Online reported that the German supermarket chain wants to pop up in Cardiff, Swansea, and Barry. The good news doesn't end there!
Aldi is investing a whopping £1.3 billion this year and has grand plans to open 100 new stores across the UK by 2025.
Their recent beachfront store in Porthcawl saw eager shoppers queueing on opening day – proving that this deal-driven supermarket is very much in demand.
For those in Cardiff and Swansea, this is an additional cherry on the cake. Cardiff already boasts seven Aldi locations, while Swansea has three. Barry residents, rejoice! This will be the first time you'll have an Aldi in your area.
A little tidbit for all the bargain hunters: Which? magazine's monthly price comparison, which looks at the average cost of up to 200 products, routinely crowns Aldi as the cheapest option. So, this expansion might just mean you'll be saving more pennies (or pounds!) on your weekly shop.
In the words of Richard Thornton, communications director at Aldi UK, “Our focus is on expanding our store estate, making sure Aldi is accessible to as many of these new shoppers across the country as possible.”
Tom Church, Co-Founder of shopping community LatestDeals.co.uk: "Expansion of retailers like Aldi means more competition and potentially greater savings for consumers. It's always a win when more choices become accessible." Happy deal hunting!
I see so many bargains advertised on this site for Aldi but don't have one near enough to me. I don't drive and Aldi is too many buses away to make it worthwhile shopping there.
