ASDA Shoppers Divided Over Controversial Colin the Caterpillar Halloween Dupe
ASDA shoppers are divided over the supermarket's take on the famous Marks & Spencer's Colin the Caterpillar cake.
To celebrate the Halloween season, ASDA has brought out a Miles the Millipede Cake. He's the classic roll cake style, similar to a Colin the Caterpillar, and has Halloween decorations including a scary green face, green worms and orange toppings.
Lots of shops offer alternatives to the pricey Colin the Caterpillar cake, including Aldi's Cuthbert the Caterpillar Cake for £5.49 and Poundland's Chris the Caterpillar for just £4.50. The M&S Caterpillar Cake is a different story, priced at a whopping £9.
However, shoppers are divided over ASDA's offering as it will set you back £7, only £2 cheaper than the Marks & Spencer classic Colin - not the best deal, especially compared to the cakes from Aldi and Poundland.
But, M&S is selling a Halloween themed Colin Cake called the Yummy Mummy. The cake is draped in white chocolate for a spooky look, and it is pricier than the regular cake, standing at £12. That's £5 more expensive than the Halloween cake from ASDA.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of money saving community commented, "you can't beat a Colin the Caterpillar cake, whether it's the original or one of the many supermarket dupes available. For the price difference, I'd be tempted to go for the Poundland one and get creative with decorations at home".
