Bargain Hunters Share Genius Trick To Save £70 On Shoes
- Savvy shoppers from Latest Deals have revealed how to save money on shoes
- They discussed how they go to the kids section and find their equivalent size
- Tips include going up a size if necessary, as kids shoes are often narrower
We’ve all experienced the anguish of finding a pair of shoes we love - only to discover they don’t come in our size. However, savvy shoppers from Latest Deals have revealed their trick for finding a perfect fit - for a fraction of the price.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, posted to the Extreme Couponing & Bargains Group asking if anyone had tried a trick he saw on Reddit under r/frugal. The photo displayed a poster describing a hack for saving money on Uggs:
‘Why pay more? Ladies, are you size 8 or under? You can wear a child size Ugg! Same styling and quality for less money! Get a child size Ugg and save!’
Fellow bargain hunters were quick to respond to the post, with plenty revealing they’re already regularly using this trick to save money.
Julie L said: ‘I do this with my trainers - I’m a size 4.5. I always head for the kids section, especially Clarks when the sales are on.’ Chrissy L agreed: ‘I’m a size 3.5 so I buy kids shoes all the time.’
Nadia E revealed the savings you can make with this trick - as well as what to be aware of. ‘I do it with trainers as I’m a size 5. The only difference between children’s and adults is that children’s are narrower.
‘It can easily save you £20-£30 by looking at the children’s options, but don’t damage your feet if you have wider ones.’
Some people had to make slight adjustments to their size when shopping in the kids section. Jaq C said: ‘Same with Converse and Docs. I’m a 6 and youth size 5 in Docs fit me - they’re very roomy.’
Lysa H agreed: ‘I’m a 4 and I get a 3 in both Converse and Docs…it’s crocs that are weird and you have to stay true to size!’
Olivia W made a huge saving: ‘I don’t know about Uggs but I did this with my Docs. The adult size 5 were over £140 but the ‘youth’ size 5 were £70 on Schuh website.
‘Saved myself £70 and they’re almost identical. Only difference is a zip on the side (to make it easier for kids to get their shoes on, but also easier for me!’
Tom added: ‘The LatestDeals.co.uk community has revealed another clever trick to save money. Plenty of people will be able to save £100s over time, simply by switching from the adults section to the kids one.
‘This trick won’t work for everyone - but if you can fit into kids shoes then you may as well pocket some extra cash!’

Yes I do this all the time with trainers. I wear size 5 and a lot of girls trainers go up to size 6 and usually much cheaper. Why pay more for the same trainers
Fantastic advice. It works with clothes too, ut can make a designer pair of jeans or trainers a really reasonable price if you are lucky enough to be small enough to wear kids shoes/clothes
